Regarding my fight career.

Ts, you are doing what 99% of the world population wouldn’t dare to do. That’s including le and the vasy majority of sherbros. Out beloved sport is amazing, entertaining and exciting yet brutal, ruthless and many times thankless. Respek for that.

You’re a pro fighter. The people claiming you aren’t probably haven’t seen their toes in years. Ignore them.

Toes still exist?

I'd assumed we'd evolved since I last saw mine.

On a serious note, @Snolla fought professionally, under professional MMA rules. I'd say you can call yourself a professional MMA fighter. I don't see why anyone would actually oppose that, to be honest.

I will fight you for 5$ to show/5$ to win purse TS; you'll beat me to a pulp, and then we'll both be worthy of the coveted purple username and all the luxuries that come with it.

Set it up

A poster recently claimed I don't deserve my tag. Im interested in some opinions.

I had a decent little run in Canada and somehow was considered #1 on tapology in Canada after 3 fights. I'm not sure if I totally deserved that but it was given to me and I was happy about it. I fought twice at 170 and once at 155.

I went pro and lost by RNC in the first round. That fight is available on youtube and easy to search. Felt good in there but I made mistakes. Got taken down and back taken, and in the prep I cut way too much weight at my EX coaches behest. He insisted that I drop from 190 to 145. 45lb cut in a month while working a normal job and no nutritionist or doctor is something I'm proud I was able to do, but it was stupid in hindsight.

I signed to fight again last sept but my opponent pulled.

The poster said I didn't deserve the pro fighter tag because I'm 0-1.

I feel like I earned the tag because I went through wars in amatuer, came out on top, and stepped in there against a young and very talented kid for my pro debut. I knew the weight cut was going to be devastating to experience but I did it anyways, went in there in front of my hometown and lost, and didn't bitch and moan after. I went back to the gym and signed to fight in september.

I guess my question is... do I deserve to be considered a pro? I'm fighting again next year after my wedding. I find it interesting that people all have there own outlook on what a pro athelete is and isn't. To that poster credit he didn't realize I signed for my second fight and the dude pulled after I already cut 20lb. Was a real bummer.

I'll admit I'm 34 and fight as a hobby. I'm a real estate agent and a music teacher. I do this shit for fun so I'm very proud of myself that I was able to do what I've done so far and am looking forward to my next fight. Never cutting 40 plus lb again though, that was a bonehead move and I only did it out of loyalty to my old coach. I followed his suggestion to the tee, it was the only fight of mine he was involved in, and I suffered for it.
If you fought professionally, then youre a pro fighter. Ignore the resident losers.

You dont see too many people with the professional fighter tag on sherdog for good reasons.

of course you do! Massive Respect to anyone who steps in the ring/cage whatever, pro or ami! Something most on here will never do, especially the posters digging you out

Ok I’ll be completely honest since you asked for it lol. My unpopular (and irrelevant) opinion is that if I met someone who had one fight and lost and never dedicated themselves professionally to fighting for any extended period, as in making a living, at least part time, out of it, or tried having a lifestyle largely geared towards attaining that goal some day, at some point in their lives, then no, I wouldn’t consider that they are/were professional fighters. At the same time I admit that I don’t really know what it takes to get licensed for those. Can any hobbyist sign up, or is there some special amateur record or other requirement? Anyway, I’m not saying it’s wrong or douchy, just not the way I personally understand it in my head. I still think it’s a really cool thing to have done and to be proud of and respected for, and amateur fights are still fights. Really lay people’s opinions shouldn’t matter that much to you though, including mine.

If you've got the courage to step into a ring/cage and make some cash, who is anyone here to tell you you're not what you say you are? You do you. That poster could be 12 for all we know, or a pathetic basement keyboard warrior who doesn't change his socks.
Lol, this.

here's a pro tip: do not let some random fuck on the internet dictate your thoughts.

1 guy said you didn't deserve it and it seems like you got into your feelings about it. don't. that guy is a fuckin nobody, you should've told him "why don't you have a nobody tag because that's what you are"

you become a professional fighter the same way you become a professional anything. once you get PAID to do it you are now a professional.

Bro, you do have a pro record, so you are a pro fighter. End of story.

You deserve every peace of the pro tag.

Do what you like, and f#ck What some sherbro says.

I kinda disagree. I’ve sold artwork I made a few times, and dedicated a lot of time to making those, but I wouldn’t call myself a “professional artist”. Not that I think there’s anything incredible or that warrants any special respect about being called that. There’s a lot of shitty and useless professional artists. It’s just not how I understand it. But I can see someone taking a more literal stance too.

i think it's different for every job. but having a pro fight i consider that a professional fighter. a professional plumber i'd expect a lot more than fixing a single pipe. i'd consider you a professional artist too.

Relative to most of the people present on Sherdog, you are most definitely a pro fighter haha

You're a pro. Not much else to say. Who gives a fuck what armchair fighters think? If they don't compete they should stfu

Only on Sherdog could a bunch of pencil necked geeks claim a dude who stepped into a cage , isn't really a pro fighter

Don't let them get you down, none of them have the balls to spar let alone fight

You have a pro fight. That is enough for me. Not many people can claim that.

There are far worse trolls on Sherdog than those who say tag is undeserved. Some of them likely were born crack addicts with brain damage.
