Reebok payouts for UFC 195!! :|

no body wins with Reebok.

Worst thing is Reebok is taking a hammering in this as well.

Be interesting to see the UFC go back to the old system, because whomever is after reebok will not pay such high amounts

In what way?

Damn. Fuck Rebook.

And people were criticizing Stipe for having a second job. Just goes to show how badass the man truly is. Firefighter/Paramedic and now possibly getting a titleshot in the biggest MMA organization in the world. Nothing but respect if you ask me.

Also, the Champ doesn't give a shit.

like, HOW IS THAT HARD for the ufc and reebok to hist fill those shorts and shirts with A LOT OF SPONSORS, legit sponsors

just like F1 and nascar. you do that and things will be a LOT better for everyone (reebok, ufc, fighters)

whats THIS? a shirt FULL of legit sponsors win a legit sport, why cant the ufc do the same

I shouldn't be shocked anymore by how many people still don't understand Reebok has nothing to do with what fighters are getting paid.

That's pathetic.
Brendan Schaub used to make $200K in sponsorships alone for his fights. Dana White didn't believe him until he showed him the pay slips.

But it's better for the UFC so...

I still call bullshit.

its crazy to see how little guys like overeem, stipe, ardrei make from sponsorship now. Those guys could be making hella good money from other sponsors if the reebok deal was dead

This is my biggest problem with it (other than the atrocious appearance of the outfits). How can they think that going from star sponsorship to a commonality is going to make any but those that fill the lowest ranks happy. Sure the pay "may" be acceptable or even damn great but taking away what is pretty much a baseline layer of income is ridiculous.

i think a guy like joe lauzon said he made like 20k from sponsors before the reebok deal, but hes not exactly a super well known fighter, plus if a guy like josh thomson can make around 30k in bellator from sponsors, its pretty safe to assume if your charismatic or somewhat well known you could be making much more than the reebok deal is allowing fighers to make in the ufc.

Josh is popular in his home state, isn't he? I seem to recall hearing about how he was quite popular in the local Strikeforce shows, so even a guy that isn't a huge draw or big name, if he can still get sponsors from his home state and do promotional stuff for local businesses, then he can still do pretty good for himself.

As you guys said, this is good for young, new guys, but the older guys who have been around and established themselves, they are getting fucked over huge.

You haven't made a single argument thus far. What would you like to see from Reebok here? Is 30k/40k not a decent amount to award a fighter, per fight? Get specific, please.

read my previous replies. I was specific. And you're totally missing the point. It's not about sponsorship alone, it's about total company profit on the UFC. But in my opinion, Champs should be at a minimum getting 100k per fight from Reebok.

I honestly think the UFC should be looking to design some type of tournament format for certain non-PPV events during the year. Maybe even a team event structure such that you can have a series of fighters represent a city or a team so fans outside of the core mma fans can find a way to attach themselves to the sport. Then if an event comes up the UFC can promote the hell out of it as a Boston vs NYC type of rivalry (or something along those lines).

Maybe then Reebok will see the potential and a higher pay scale can be agreed upon. I just don't see Reebok justifiably paying more than they are right now when a vast majority of fans are dispersed world wide and events are all over the place (which is cool, but inconsistent for the fan-base). They need some kind of consistent format for the US and then find a similar system for europe and the asias and rest of americas.

I imagine they're trying. It's hard to get a bunch of corporate execs to agree to sponsor what tons of people still consider human cock fighting. The sport isn't even legal in all of the US till this day.

i hope theyre trying

In what way?

Who is buying Reebok gear?

I haven't seen any in stores or on people.

Plus the fact that they have screwed up at eve turn.

I really think reebok will not do this again.
