After two years recovering from chemotherapy and major surgery, I'm finally ready to start training BJJ again. I still have my Gi's, rash-guard etc. But I've lost my gumshield somewhere along the line. I can't even remember the brand I used. Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent gumshield? I just need it for Rolling; I doubt I'll be competing until the end of the year, at least.

Thanks.

Congratulations on coming through a really tough period of your life. I'm extremely happy when I read success stories such as yours. I'm thrilled for you and your loved ones.

Now, if it were me, I would get a custom fit piece from a professional. I did and it's amazing. Yes costs a bit more, but fits like a glove.

As above, highly recommend going to a dentist and getting a customer one molded for you. At worst if you can't get into one, go and see if you can get one online. Ie, one of those where they send you a kit to take a mold at home and sent it back to them.

Basically avoid a boil and bite. They're about half a step better than a orange peel

Go to a dentist and get a custom one. They have companies that make custom but you have to do the mold yourself. You might not be able to do the best mold. Sometimes you also need to make some adjustments like shaving the mouthpiece down if the fit isn't correct.

I got one years ago and still use it. The mold wasn't a problem for me and the process was pretty easy.

I remember when the owner used to post here. I never got any from them. Never heard a bad thing about them or their product
