MT/KB Japan Recent fights/results/news from Japan II

This is their first meeting right? so it is not really a revenge.

Kimura hasn't really improved imo and he has reverted to his old style.
I don't see any muay thai skill being shown despite spending months in Weerasaklek gym.

Oh, I just saw the ( removed ? ) Tattoo or skin condition he has and assumed it's Kohei Nishikawa who also has a skin condition or is burned. what is up with that?

at least all that loses in the first round really humbled him

he looked being the same as usual,he just had and lower level opponent this time

crazy how japanese people still following him hard, the video of his fight was posted today and already have almost 80k

The Japanese are weird

Meanwhile it seems like the west has fully hopped on Tenshin's hype train.
I have seen a couple of "analytical" videos on his skills with 100,000 plus views and a few click bait ones. All citing Lawrence Kenshin's breakdown clip.

Kimuras journey to Weerasakreck gym. Seems like he's really questioning his way of training and try to mix things up. Would be a shame if end up as just another Hiroya.

Love how open minded he and Soda handeling training with Kaew.

@Karaev fan Long video, but anything interesting been said?

Sorry, was out for a while with work. Promise to translate the highlights later.

Some notes I found interesting
- Kimura was contacted by Weerasakrek when he was just starting on his losing streak and asked if he wanted to train with them. He accepted because he idolized the defensive skill in muay thai and its control of distance
- He's also started training boxing at the Kyoei boxing gym (the most prestigious boxing gym in Japan which has produced 12 world champions)
- He mentioned that while he has a wild and aggressive style, he considers Petrosyan to be the ideal kickboxer for how he seamlessly blends offensive and

I believe its taping to cover up his tattoos. Even now, tattoos are associated strongly with the Yakuza in Japanese culture. It wasn't that big of a deal when it was just Krush, but with a lot of these fighters hoping to get onto K-1 which has a higher profile it seems like they've started to cover up just in case they get a higher profile later in life.

Good on Kimura to bounce back with a win. I'm not his biggest fan, but his decline has just been sad. After his win, he announced that he was back and petitioned for a slot in the K-1 67.5kg tournament in September. It seems that he got that slot confirmed as of today.

Speaking of Krush, I was pretty sure Leona Pettis vs. Anpo Riku was gonna go into the extension. Pity especially since Nicholas actually was in the corner for this fight, but Anpo Riku is a fun talent. He's the older brother of Rukiya and still only 19. Lots of holes, but it makes for fun back-and-forth matches like this one vs. Yamamoto Masahiro

Also the card for the Krush vs. China card has been finalized and Noiri/Yamato's opponents for the Nagoya Krush card has been announced. Will follow up on those (though I suspect Shadess has talked about the Krush vs China card in the China thread).

Not a fan of how much press Tenshin is getting in Western media. He's a fun talent, but wins like Ryan Sheehan are just gimmies to get crowds for RISE. Saiga vs. Tenshin should be a fun fight and I'm actually fairly confident Saiga takes that one.

One thing I do appreciate about Takeru is how dedicated he is to doing media. He's apparently been actively going to talent promotions ever since he was a nobody in Krush and forcing himself into getting onto these types of shows to raise K-1's profile.

Is Saiga/Tenshin gonna be an mma fight? I could see Saiga winning in that context but it's hard to see him beating Tenshin under k1 rules, Saiga has fallen short pretty much every time he's fought someone top tier. Though it's not uncommon for kickboxers to move up in weight and have trouble dealing with the size disadvantage.

Rules haven't been decided yet. MMA, K-1 and mixed rules are all being considered at the moment.

Saiga may not really have any top wins beyond Naokick, but he's a former 63kg fighter whereas Tenshin should be fighting as a 53kg. If Saiga's gone from going the distance vs. Urabe and Kubo to getting owned by a guy he should outweigh by anywhere between 5-10kg, he should straight up quit.

OMG!!! it is Riku/Rukiya, the two karate kids from K-1 TV show aired a decade ago back in golden age of K-1 MAX. What a throwback.
I remember K-1 hyping them up as the next Masato (kind of like Hiroya except they were in primary school).
After the death of K-1 they just disappeared. I think I watch their fight videos in random promotion
a few years ago with them losing some winning some. Glad to see they are in Krush now.

Here are them back when they were around 10-12 years old.

Here are them in Thailand training with Anuwat

Here are them with fellow "prodigies" but these kids are boxers

None of them has lived up to the hype so far. Still hopefully they don't all end up to be just a gatekeeper like Hiroya.

They both train at Hiroya's gym incidentally. The incredibly well named "Try Hard" gym.
