thai vs outsider (grand champion vs foreign challenger)
short vs tall (David vs Goliath)
corner rushes in at the end so it makes it easy to overstate the significance (changed the world)

K-1 superfights for the April event

- Kaew Weerasakrek vs Yamazaki Hideaki (for the 65kg title shot)
- Yamato Tetsuya vs TBA

Battleship Yamato is back.
 
April is so far away. Hopefully they have fights in China before then.

Or, this was planned. Make the new hero deity a courageous once-ever who will step up and fight at all times. Solid Japanese promotional artifice. Takada was even in the ring selling the audience of a Tenshin fight on NYE. The promoters know the possibilities, and are building him.

Considering the record Japanese promotions have of piecing things together so late, it can't be ruled out that this is impromptu, but obviously I prefer my proposed direction.

Oh, come on. Any decent promoter would have the vision that I outlined. It makes sense and isn't particularly challenging. Tenshin-Takeru will be huge when it happens. They know it and I'm sure a nice promo is ready to go for his NYE fight.

Huh? I didn't even suggest the fight was scripted. I'm only saying that perhaps it was planned for him to fight twice if the first one went well. If I was an amoral promoter that's what I would do. It's totally plausible.

And is this supposed to be devious or something? Of course a promotor is going to put their stars in situations to make themselves become even bigger, that's their job. The only caveat is that the star has to deliver. If he delivers then he justifiably gains notoriety. Just look at McGregor.
 
I agree, that was the plan all along. If Tenshin won the fight, ask for a NYE fight. Takada wouldn't have responded otherwise. I didn't think Coca was saying that it was devious (until the amoral part?) - he was just pointing out that this was likely planned between Tenshin and Rizin before he stepped into the ring yesterday.
