Really bad loss for Kownacki

If was obvious from the beginning that this was bound to happen. The only mystery was whether he'd last long enough to get to a title shot or not. He looked all right walking through Szpilka but then he took a beating en route to stopping Iago Kiladze & he's taken heavy shots from every opponent he's fought since. Even in the Washington fight that only went two rounds.
Kownacki might rebound against limited opposition but he's going to suffer more KO losses before his career's over & probably be reduced to journeyman status should he continue fighting that long.
Saved him from a potentially career ending ass beating by one of the top 3 guys. Imagine what Wilder or Joshua would have done to him, this is for the best.

Oh, for sure. He'd have been blasted into oblivion.

We all love the fat hw story but the reality is, in shape and nimble, is so much better.

B level fighter because he lost to guys he can't beat like Wilder, Jarell Miller??
I don't know much of this Washington guy, but looking at his record i don't see some bad losses. His only loss that makes him look bad is to Charles Martin, yet Martin stopped Glazkov (although by an injury) but still.. These are all the top dogs of today.

And where have you seen Helenius beating ''Finnish gatekeepers''?
I see a very wide range of victims and not one of them finnish - he beat Turkish, German, Russian, Belorussian, Georgian, UK guys.
Probably one of the most diverse resumes I know of.
Aside from that he has lost to only Dyllian White and Johan Dahaupas. It doesn't look bad to me.
He also lost to Gerald Washington who just got beat by Charles Martin.
But we saw Whyte and Duhapaus get worked over in their shots at the best guys. Duhapaus and Whyte are definitely a step below the elite so what do you call the guys THEY beat.
Helenius got a good win but lets not go overboard here. He was a massive underdog and for a reason.

“It was a good benefit for me because he didn’t get the count,” Helenius told a group of reporters following his fourth-round TKO victory. “And I knew he was wobbly, because I was there, you know? I was there.”

“I saw him hurt,” Helenius said. “I felt him hurt, so of course, if he would’ve gotten [a] 10 count, then he maybe would’ve recovered better.”

How a loss to Helenius makes you look bad?
He has only 3 losses and some ex-champs on his W colomn.
If someone could explain how a C-level fighter can be currently #14 in boxrec at HW?
So any fighter outisde of top 10 is a C-level fighter then..??
I've said it the night before. It was a loss-loss scenario for Kownacki, and it's only himself to blame for the bad matchup.

his UD win over chisora was a horrible decision. That should have been another loss
He’s top 15-30 imo. Same as kownacki, Martin and Washington.

Wilder or AJ would have messed Kownacki up. As would Helenius if the referee hadn't intervened when he did.

Because he got starched by Gerald Washington, who is absolutely a B level fighter, and thats probably generous.
Boxrec rankings don't make sense to anyone, to be fair. Fact is Helenius has lost everytime he's stepped up. He does fine beating up Finnish gatekeepers or washed up B level guys from the last decade, but has lost against the real contenders he's stepped up to fight. Beating Sam Peter and Liakovich doesn't mean a whole lot when it had been years since those guys were relevant.

Helenius isn't a top guy but in fairness to Kownacki, he does have a big punch. He can drop anybody if he catches them right. Kownacki is easy to hit, so he's always going to have struggles against guys who can punch.

This may have been just an ill-advised match-up, although Helenius has historically been awful against opponents who put pressure on him (they don't teach you how to fight on the inside in Finland). Being a sparring partner for American-style fighters seems to have helped Helenius a ton. He actually didn't just completely shut down when Kownacki piled up the pressure on him, but punched back and looked strong in the clinches.

Helenius would be a decent bounce-back fight for a guy like Andy Ruiz. Big, tall guy who can punch, who's physically the same size as the top 3 HWs. Durable enough to last a couple of rounds.
