I was discussing it in WW earlier, I think Golden Boy was the main factor wanting the $50 PPV. I feel like, if they could pay Manny Pacquiao enough to box in an exhibition on a regular RIZIN event, and not even as the main event, they should be able to afford Garcia. Although, it may have turned out that way if it were only Garcia, they'd enlisted other Golden Boy fighters for that portion of the card, and none of them are participating now. I agree, I think they realized that they weren't going to make what they thought they would and bailed.

Yeah, that's probably more accurate, as on second thought I realized even the average UFC event is around 7 hours long. Those Japanese new years events are absurd. The introductions, animated sequences, songs and so forth just drag on. I find it amusing for a minute, but I'd rather just watch the fights. Not really interested in hours of watching anime renditions of the fighters shoot fireballs at one another.

The roster is getting better. They're pulling in more unknowns from other places and facilitating their growth as fighters. Some of the foreigners on the card tonight will either be in the UFC, or are on the level. Even their homegrown talent is getting better, something expected with the Japanese takeover in boxing and wrestling. They've still got some work to do, but they're making strides. Sakakibara has always been able to find unknowns and make them better, we see it in the UFC, PFL and Bellator fighters he found when they were just randos, they have had several who moved West and won belts, or, at the least, contended. Future is bright.
 
fuck my twat, I have a company meeting with Asian dept heads when this event starts. Will sadly be a couple hours late if I make it at all, work has been killing me lately.

Man, that Rizin Pass is too good to pass up! There's no way I'll be staying awake for the PBP, but the next few months I know EXACTLY what I'm watching as I work out. thanks @Bobby Boulders for putting this together!
