Khamzat literally went for a takedown in the first 10 seconds of the fight, got him down briefly after 1 minute of trying, but Gilbert popped right back up.

You need to watch that fight again.

Okay but Gilbert didn't pop right back up. Khamzat backed out of his guard and let him up.

He took Gilbert down to start the fight but that clearly wasn't the gameplan. They preferred to stand with Burns because Gilbert's ground game is superior to Gilbert's striking.

A submission grappling match between Khamzat and Burns would have been interesting, at least a couple of years ago. Burns is probably too old now.
