RDR1 vs RDR2

lolz @ trying to argue about "interactivity" in a "game" that checkpoints you through missions even if you did literally nothing during the missions.

Yes, Robbie, mission checkpoints completely nullify every interactive mechanic going on in this game...

You're a spastic child, and there's a very good reason you're a complete joke in this forum.

...still praising "interactivity" in a game he barely played. seriously, i checkpointed through a mission while i wasn't even holding a controller. dat "interactivity!"

Sure, and in your mind that nullifies every single other interactive mechanic this game has to offer, because you're an idiot.

strawman AND ad-hom? i'd expect no less from you.

you're right, though. missions aren't important and are trivial compared to horse testicles*. oh, wait.

*(yes, this was stated as a feature by the devs)

Fully interactive living, breathing open world with endless possibilities

VS

"Bu-bu-but, mission checkpoints!"

Lulz. You're like a guy who puts a brand new Ferrari in the scrapyard, because it had some dirt on the tires. Irrational. Illogical. Idiotic. You.

lolz @ "endless possibilities" while describing... rdr2.

math. learn it.

edit: decided to bite. care to list just some of these "endless" possibilities? should be easy, since they are apparently infinite.

i'm not sure what's funnier:

the fact that you're arguing "endless possibilities" as some sort of response to the hilariously bad limitations i mentioned...
the fact that you have now spent more time white knighting the game than you've played it.

I kind of stopped playing this after chapter 4. Burnt myself out hunting and roaming the map looking for encounters and stuff Arthur could draw. Story isn't really interesting either, at least so far. One thing I notice between the first and second game is the characters were a lot more amusing in the first, like that crazy grave robber, that con-man, the drunken coward that gets you to Mexico, that douchebag poet in Mexico. The second game hasn't made me want to do more missions to see what happens with any of the characters. The only characters that I've enjoyed seeing in the game so far is Marston and that Irishman who gets shot in the face in chapter 3.

whoa, man... spoilers! some of us are only 15 hours in!

I love both games.

But, as is often the case, now that I've played RDR2, I doubt I could go back to RDR1. The polish of the world etc in RDR2 would probably leave RDR1 in it's wake.

I totally get the criticism leveled at RDR2 (too easy, missions aren't exciting, controls are imprecise), but I honestly don't really care about all that shit. The missions aren't exactly taxing, but I don't care. I don't play it for an adrenaline rush or a challenge, I play it because it's relaxing and engrossing. My favourite thing to do in the game is just roam around, hunting and exploring, marveling at the world that's been created. I do some missions for a while, advance the story, then go out and explore. Try and hunt down some legendary animals, or just explore the world to see what I can see. Plus it's fucking gorgeous, which certainly helps. Easily one of the best looking games I've ever played (if only I could get it on PC for a decent framerate).

I also love the little interactions with NPC's etc around the world. Just yesterday I was roaming around and stumbled upon a house. Front door was blocked off, but a window was open up stairs. I climbed in and found a fucking horror show. Some freak has stitched together various animal parts, trying to make a mutant. Shit was genuinely unnerving because it came completely out of left field. I assume it's for some side mission that I haven't discovered yet. But I LOVE stuff like that. Just intriguing, bizarre stuff that you discover by yourself in the world. A short while later, I found another empty house. Went in to the basement and there was a dead body... or I thought it was. Turned out he was sleeping and there was another guy asleep under the table. Both woke up and started shooting. Had a gun fight, murdered them. Then there was a witness, so I gave chase. Finally caught him, roped him up and threatened him. He promised he wouldn't tell, so I let him go. Went back to the house and saw there was a big pile of money on the table, so I took it, then carried on my merry way. I'll never get enough of interactions like that. I just love it.

Again, I get the criticisms. But if you're after a relaxing game that centers on exploration and character, you could do a lot worse than RDR2, IMO.

RDR was better in terms of the narrative and characters, RDR2 had more to to outside of the main storyline. Both games are great.

You can find a computer, create an account on Sherdog and become an uninspired troll.

RDR1 didn't feel like a chore to play, so that decides it alone for me. RDR2's attempt at being more "real" hampered the fun for me. Just let me carry 12 guns. I don't give a shit if it's realistic or not.

I'm glad I am not the only one. I was getting worried that I just couldn't get into RDR2 because I was getting old. I really did love the first game though when it came out. Maybe I'll give it another chance. I played it for probably about 5 hours or so and felt like everything was a chore and didn't really get excited for any of the missions I did
