RDR1 vs RDR2

lolz @ this thread.

when the rdr2 thread was active, most everyone seemed pissy at my utter disappointment and criticism of the "game" (i'm still not yet convinced rdr2 is actually a game), while it was being praised and hailed as a masterpiece and so much better than the first one. i guess times have changed.

rdr1 > not playing rdr2 > rdr2
Honeymoon is over. I definitely defended the game then was like wtf am I even playing this boring shit.

RD2 is too slow. Not so much in the story but the missions are too far apart and so completing the story takes more work and it's the reason why I am still halfway through the game.

I have little reason to pick it up and at this rate I will just start over when it finally comes to PC in 6 months.

Lots of folks in his thread not playing RDR2 correctly.

The game is an absolute masterpiece in every way, that sheds last gen tropes.

It probably had more to do with your whiny, hyperbolic criticisms than anything else.

You're doing it again.

...much unlike the above whiny complaint with your name attached to it?

also, my criticisms weren't very hyperbolic. they were pretty objective and (perhaps too) specific.

i remember when i actually tried to fail a mission. and it was impossible. the checkpoints just kept advancing me, regardless of my actions (or inactions).

i also remember how my weapons kept disappearing...

I also remember not taking you seriously, because you bitch about every game ever made, no matter how insignificant the details might be...

well, i'm officially sick of playing the "game" just because i stupidly dropped $60 on it. so i'm out.

i think it's a turd with $1B of polish. the mechanics are bad, the controls are convoluted at best and absolutely infuriating (why is L2 aim and R2 shoot... except when R2 is aim. and still shoot. wtf? why does L1 only bring up the weapon wheel when it feels like it, and other times you're just inexplicably SOL?) at worst (and worst happens kind of a lot). the sandbox element is odd. it's big, but generally pointless.

the missions are the worst and where the "game" becomes not really a game at all. they're basically impossible to fail. you can play as terrible as possible and still checkpoint through them. there's no skill/play factor. there's also generally no choice and they're basically on rails. it's just a gigantic movie that tries to make you believe you're playing a game. it's as if they made this specifically for the worst/laziest/most casual players that exist.

and that's not getting into the bugs/questionable AI/bounty/etc

rockstar clearly pumped a ton of $/resources into the graphics and putting easter eggs everywhere. i just wish they put 1/100th of those resources into making it an actual game.

RDR1 had the better story

John Marston is the better character of the two IMO

Yeah, I stand by my assertion. You're a whiner. That's it.

I don't even know what you're talking about with the weapon wheel. It's fine. Missions keeping you on a path? Oh', this is just so egregious! No other game in history has done this!

You just look for little things to bitch at, and ignore EVERYTHING else. That's all you do. Do you seriously enjoy any game at all?

Take all you're your little bitch fits, and contrast them with the overwhelming amount of things the game does right, and they're completely insignificant.

I mean, I'm not the only one who recognizes this trait you have. Perhaps just take a step back and think "Maybe it's me? Maybe I'm just miserable and hate everything?"

RDR2 is better to me.

I put in 250 hours into it.

Arthur Morgan is more interesting to me.

I didnt want to play as him initially but when you play as John, I really missed Arthur. So much so I went back and started the game over again.

The writing for this game was amazing. I loved so many of the characters. The biggest gripe I have is the shooting. But RDR also has bad shooting.

Both create amazing atmospheric worlds that I love but Arthur felt more like a real person with real development to me.

I'm 15 hours in, and have already gotten my money's worth, and have played enough of it t recognize what they achieved with the overall design of game is nothing short of remarkable.

Now, am I saying everyone has to love it? No. You in particular though? Yeah, your opinion ain't worth shit.

wow. 15 hours in?! after only 6 months? must be a great, compelling game!

btw, you're only 15 hours in. exactly how much is your opinion worth?
{<huh}

You stated RDR2 isn’t even a game.

i said i'm not convinced it's actually a game/etc. and i stand by it. i don't think it requires any skill and i already mentioned how it didn't even require "play," once one went to a yellow blip. the checkpoints kept advancing through, even if i just put the controller down. even if i killed my allies. ie: trying to fail. when the "game" plays itself and your actions are largely moot, is it REALLY a game? shouldn't your actual play be a major factor in a game?

if we think walking simulators and watching youtube videos are "games" or "playing games," then i guess rdr2 is a game. if it's supposed to actually be interactive and require one's input... not so much.

Yeah, 'cause it's impossible that everyone didn't buy the game at launch, and might've just purchased it last week...

My God, you're dumb.

I could be 15 seconds into the game, and my opinion would still be worth more than yours.

wow. 15 hours in a week?! slow down, man.

you're barely past the tutorial, yet you're the one rabidly defending that polished turd.

@HereticBD

Some of us do have other things to do in life...

You also just compared the unrivaled interactivity of this game to a walking simulator. I think you just might be the dumbest poster in here, whose opinions are worth less than nothing.

yeah, you apparently are busier white knighting the game than actually playing it. and i use the term "playing" loosely. also, learn math.

lolz @ "unrivaled interactivity"

You bore me, and I doubt you even know what interactivity means.

lolz @ trying to argue about "interactivity" in a "game" that checkpoints you through missions even if you did literally nothing during the missions.
