Which RDR do you like better?

I havent played RDR2 because im still pc only.

But RDR1 is what I say when ppl ask me what my fav game is.

More to do, better story telling and better graphics (obviously) in RDR2 but I also like the first one better. I replayed the first one at least 3 or 4 times and I don't think I'll replay the second one, at least not anytime soon.

Much preferred RDR1.

Marston hooked me as a protagonist in a way that Morgan never really came close to. There's more to do in RDR2 but if you're spending that much time with a character and you don't really connect with them then what's the point?

RDR1: Story and protagonist
RDR2: Everything else

Both bore me.

I think RDR will continue to be remembered as a classic. RDR2 will be remembered as a good game.

Imo, RDR2 doesn't have that "something''
It's like a girl that can be a great friend, but not a good GF

Liked RDR1 but not enough to keep playing past prolly 20-25% completion at most
Was gonna buy RDR2 but I figured I;d prolly quit that one too so I didnt even bother
Gimme a real sequel to Red Dead Revolver though and I'll be happy, loved that game

Rdr1, just had more fun playing it then 2.

RDR1 and its not close. RDR1 is one of my top 10 games of all time. RDR2 is a chore to play and arguably my most disappointing game of all time

Lol, Pliny with the ever present shitty hot take.

I'm only a little ways in the RDR2, but I think it's safe to say the RDR1 had a stronger narrative focus.

So far, I think RDR2 trumps it in every other way though. One thing I think it really nailed overall, is giving the player real choice in how they want to play it. In RDR1, I always felt kind of guilty playing a bad guy, because it clashed so much with overall story they were trying to tell. Marsden felt like a hero with morals, so when you went on a rampage it didn't feel right. You wanted to help people more than hurt them in that game. With Morgan there is lot more shades of grey, and when you do spend all day robbing and killing folks and truly living like an outlaw, it doesn't clash with the overall morality of the character.

Not to mention just the sheer amount of shit you can do in RDR2 that actually feels impactful to the world, and less like simple side activities they just threw in there. The world Rockstar created in RDR2 is truly one of the greatest accomplishments in video game history. It's absolutely mind blowing.

lolz @ this thread.

when the rdr2 thread was active, most everyone seemed pissy at my utter disappointment and criticism of the "game" (i'm still not yet convinced rdr2 is actually a game), while it was being praised and hailed as a masterpiece and so much better than the first one. i guess times have changed.

rdr1 > not playing rdr2 > rdr2

First game was a little better, especially for it's time. Still holds up today imo. Marston is one of the best protagonists I've ever played as, Arthur is good in his own right but it's not really comparable. The second game did some things better and the size of the game and everything you could do was impressive.

It probably had more to do with your whiny, hyperbolic criticisms than anything else.

You're doing it again.

I dunno, RDR 2 is great, but I couldn't help feel "why am I doing this shit?" like all the time. The amount of inane and pointless shit you do in mission suuuuucks, in my view. Rockstar needs to revitalize the mission structuring of their games, and badly so. For such giant and meticulously crafted open worlds, it doesn't seem like they ever spend much timee making the missions anything but super constrained set pieces.

RDR2 is that girl who looks amazing at the pool. Then you take her home and she has nothing to say and just lies there in bed. RDR1 was fun as shit and didn't think it was the best game ever.
