Ray Longo, Weidman's got " a huge advantage in rematch"!

I saw Weidman get gassed after one takedown. I also saw Weidman look slow and plodding on the feet. What makes you so confident?

the same slow, plodding and gassed wrestler that KO'd the Matrix man himself on his feet.

Says a lot about Silva's abilities.

Anderson was leaning way back when he got hit and had to fall back because of it. Its not like he was upright and got hit so hard his knees buckled and he went unconscious. I dont think this will effect his chin at all.

Silva was "out" twice in that fight. One was the initial knock down punch, and the second was when Chris bounced Silva's head off the canvas like a basketball.

This. Anderson was indeed OUT after Chris landed that left hook (yes, it wasn't quite picture perfect but this isn't boxing). Anderson fell down like a log and was stiff right away and completely out of it. Chris followed up with that huge GnP punch (diving punch) and hit him a couple more times before Herb Dean pulled him off. Anderson was so out of it he was trying to wrestle Herb Dean. He was out cold, you don't have to be sleeping/snoring to be out cold. Anderson's muscle memory and automatic reaction had already kicked in after he saw the ref standing directly over him. The first punch, the left hook, would've been enough to stop the fight.

Well he's definitely going to be confident, he totally out classed Anderson.

THIS. It cracks me up when people try to defend Silva by putting down Weidman, only to make Silva look even worse.

They don't think about the consequences when typing that stupid shit up. :icon_lol: It's like, which one is it?! Did a gassed, slow and plodding Weidman KTFO Anderson OR did a still fresh Weidman do it? Answer: Doesn't matter, the result is what it is. Anderson got brutally knocked the fuck out and his head dribbled off the canvas a foot into the air.

A meatball sandwich and a dozen doughnuts has an advantage on Ray Longo

Right. You do realize that Longo coached the two biggest upsets in MMA history (at least in the UFC), right? He must be doing something right. Here's some education for you about Mr. Longo.

Longo has been training in various arts since 1972. A certified coach for the U.S. amateur Boxing Federation, he is also a Long Island representative for the European/American Thai Boxing Association under the current european Thai Boxing Champion, Phil Nurse.

Ray is a certified instructor of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kun Do Concepts, under Richard Bustillo, Tom Batell and Paul Vunak. He founded IMAA in 1990, and has trained thousands of students and fighters since, including several Golden Gloves champions, American and Thai Kickboxing champions, and UFC fighters.

He's not exactly a nobody.

if weidman takes the rematch it will definately be from his wrestlling/ ground and pound.
if silva can stuff the takedowns like he did later in the first fight then he has a chance to stop chris on the feet.
this fight could go either way but anderson should have a much bigger chance in the rematch if he choses defencd himself properly

Agreed.

Its nice to read someone that's not a bullshitter.

Even somebodies can be fat dopey f@&ks who's pupils got lucky. View gsp vs serra 2. longo wasn't such a wizard of a coach when gsp ground serra into dirt in the rematch. Did he not have those credentials then? lol...how many other champs in that illustrious camp? How many title defenses did Serra have? How many does gsp have? How many did Silva have?..:)

You missed the point but nvm. Longo is to be respected for his expertise. While GSP did make Serra look like a complete noob in the rematch (I'm a HUGE GSP fan), Serra still pulled off an upset that absolutely NOBODY ever thought would happen and, at the time, the odds were 7 to 1 for GSP. :icon_idea When Weidman felled Silva I believe the odds were somewhere around 2 1/2 to 1 for Silva but Weidman was a much bigger underdog due to the UFC hype machine and Silva's reign of dominance that seemed to have lasted nearly forever (16 straight wins). Serra was the last man to beat GSP and Weidman was the first man to beat Silva in the UFC. That's enough for me and anybody with a brain that works.

BTW, Longo didn't always look out of shape and overweight...

He has my absolute respect and I'd love to train under him (I'm not Italian but neither is Chris). His fighters have real confidence that he helped to instill in them. Serra won TUF too (The Comeback) in case you forgot. His fighters have plenty of accomplishments and his most talented pupil just KTFO'd Anderson and did it just into the 2nd round. In the rematch expect Longo to be right, again, and for Chris to either sub or GnP T/KO Silva. Silva had nothing for Weidman, no "luck" to it.

Ed Soares said it best sometimes if you zig where you should've zag the fight could be over at this point no excuses should be made. I honestly don't think the rematch will be nothing like the first fight it should be more competitive and hopefully both fighters actually implement their game plans this time.

Yes I agree with Longo. I also agree with his strategy of punching a whole through silva's chest lol
