I am making this thread because I have had typical digestion (bloating, gassy, poor stool quality) issues forever and tried many things that never really solved my problem. Except now - I think I randomly found something that helped me.

So in the past, 3 months, it has been much, much better. The only change that I can think of in my lifestyle is that for random reasons I started introducing the regular consumption of raw cheese (made from unpasteurised milk). Very small quantities, like a small piece every day, or even every couple/few days.

I read many times that often, a bacterial imbalance in one's intestins may be the cause for getting bloated, gassy and poor stool quality. I also read that cheeses made of raw milk are probiotics that help out rebalance one's intestinal flora.

I think that these cheeses are banned in Canada and it could be the same in USA. If available, try it out just to see. I think it helped me - maybe it will help you.

Interestingly, I also had access to raw milk in the past (extremely hard to get in the city at least here in Germany) but depending on the phases it tended to backfire and give me the shits. I also had tried these little probiotics bottles but for some reason they didn't always work either.

It depends on the state, but, raw grass-fed dairy generally isn't banned in the U.S.

It is highly regulated though, the farms in PA having strict state oversight. Last time I looked there were exactly two raw dairy farms allowed to operate and sell directly to the consumer in my county.

I used to drink a gallon of raw grass-fed milk per week, now it's more like a gallon per month.

But I absolutely love raw grass-fed butter and cheese. I was at the farm early this morning, picked up a pint of raw grass-fed butter and two pounds of cheddar.

Good stuff, IMO.

And have you looked into the benefits of it? Or just love the taste?

Normal yogurt with live cultures didn't help? This stops the runs almost instantly. Although it's dairy, it doesn't cause lactose intolerance problems, I'm guessing because the enzymes already broke down the sugars.

Well it s all relative. I had recurring problems but it s not like it was non stop or something. Sometimes these would work sometimes not. Sometimes they would actually give me the shots, haha. Cheese doesn't.

Just hope the yogurt you bought wasn't left unrefrigerated somewhere abandoned in the store like how people don't bother to put back cold stuff in the cold section and leave it anywhere.

I think I read somewhere cheddar cheese is probiotic.

I have suffered from the same issues and have found Kefir (the proper organic stuff) to be a real help. I agree that a lot of research is showing that the general quality and variety of your gut bacteria is very important for overall health.

Raw milk, butter, and cheese is delicious.

Once you try it you won't go back.

Quite honestly I didn't find that raw milk tastes good. I thought it was always sort of watery and it has this very slightly rancid taste. Even the appearance is less appealing. 3% Pasteurised milk certainly tastes better to me :-)

Now on cheese, there are so many cheeses out there, some made of raw milk but most made of pasteurised milk (even in France, which is the world's raw cheese capital), and most of them are delicious :-). For example Camembert, there are so many varieties.

I make my own raw milk kefir which has been hugely beneficial for my gut health.

The milk should have been thicker and less watery. Thats the biggest difference between it and watered down store bought milk.

But everyone has different tastes.

When you get a chance try some real cow butter, it is delicious and not as bad for you.

Interesting. That is what I would have expected but it was indeed watery. But I always bought from one brand so maybe the brand just sucked. Extremely hard to find.

I would say the brand you got a hold of sucked.

It is hard to find and is a little more expensive, but its worth it.
