Rate the Jurassic Park movies

I want you and @Dragonlordxxxxx to duke out some reviews.

Ha ha. @Dragonlordxxxxx is the king.

I do like to think I can put something worthwhile together when I really try, though.

ITHATS why i liked JP3 over 2. Its more fun. We got the perfect family/epic film in the first one. Now its time to have fun. JP2 was trying too hard to be its own entity. JP3 said, fuck it, lets try this. For me, it worked.

Like I said, my major complaint with JP3 is simply that the story is so thin. I also didn't love the implausibility of some of the action sequences. With the first film, and even most of the second film, the action felt believable. That is, believable if someone had actually created new dinosaurs.

If they had gotten their script problems resolved in time to not literally be making it up as they go then that would've helped a lot. While I do think the film as it is is a fairly fun action movie, a little more substance would've elevated it.

Damn, I wrote all that shit and no one wants to discuss JP3 with me. . .

Jurassic world bored the crap outta me, the SFX stood out and didn't look near as good as the original's quality. It looked off, the original wins for pushing boundaries and being ground breaking. 2 sucked, 3 was actually good, some story elements aside. And like I said, world just tried to stand on the back of the original without doing anything all that new.

I think if #3 wasn't a JP film, it probably wouldn't get near as much criticism as it does.

I spilled toy dinosaurs into my milk

I did Jurassic milk

JP3 is better than Jurassic World just for this one scene. Been laughing at this mess for 15 years.

World was fun and I've seen 1 but long after it came out and it was dated.

JP2 is nothing special, but I feel like everyone that is saying that JP3 is better than JP2 are the type of people who think Gigli is a winner

JP2 was one of the worst Spielberg films. JP3 is a pretty decent Joe Johnston film. Personally I'd prefer to rewatch JP3. The lost world just makes me want to watch the original film where as I can enjoy the third as a dumb 90 minute cartoony kids film.

I actually really enjoyed the 2nd one. I never really understood the hate for it. It's obviously not even close to as good as the first one, but that's not a good way to judge it or any sequel of any franchise or whatever you want to call it. The third one seemed more like a money grab than anything in my opinion. It wasn't very good, but I'll admit that I really liked the Spinosaurus. I didn't like that it killed the T-Rex, but it was a cool dinosaur and a decent.. villain?

Other than some people's irrational hate for one 30 second scene, I think the problem with JP2 is that it's missing a lot of heart. It's kind of a bland movie, where stuff just happens, and it looks cool, but there is no reason to care about any of it. It's a pretty soulless flick, without any memorable characters or story arcs to get you to care about what is going on, which is pretty rare for Spielberg flick. It desperately needed Sam Neil and Laura Dern back, and not pretend Dr. Malcolm is worthy of the lead role, while shoehorning Julianne Moore(not Laura Dern) and Vince Vaugh(Not Sam Neil), as cheap replacements.

It's a solid two hours of entertainment, but that's all it is, and you forget about it almost immediately afterwords.

Agree with pretty much everything you said. However, I do want to point out that even though Julianne Moore is no proper replacement for Laura Dern, she does elevate the film and her presence in it is very welcome.

She's a good actress, and did a decent job, but much like her role in "Hannibal"...those were some impossibly big shoes to fill. Even though she was an original character in TLW, it's hard to shake the feeling that she was merely filling a void, even if it wasn't the true intention.

I never read the book, so I'm not even sure if Neil and Dern's characters were even a part of the original story, but man were they missed.

I've heard the movie deviates significantly from the book. Like, they're almost two separate stories.

Ellie Satler is an iconic character and Dern brought her to life perfectly. And I do think she's obviously more important to the franchise than Julianne Moore's character. But what I can say is that when I rewatched Lost World just a few days ago, I really did find Moore a joy to watch and I was so thankful that she was in the film because I felt like without her it definitely would've been a lesser movie. In a film that is already teetering on the edge, that counts for a lot.

I thought the same thing about Malcolm being the main guy when I first saw it as a kid too. I like Jeff Goldblum but didn't think his character was good to be to be the lead. I remember actually being upset Sam Neil wasn't in it. Overall I didn't mind the movie though, it wasn't close to the first but it had some entertaining scenes in it still in my opinion. Most people don't care for it but it's just always stuck with me since I was little. Everybody enjoys a movie that most people don't like, like we saw in the thread about it a few months ago.

Jurassic Park - 8 (it loses a little something with time, for all its awesome beginning, the whole awe at seeing real live dinosaurs, the movie basically becomes a monster movie and stays that way,i feel it could have been more

I have only seen the 2nd one, which is really more of the same, but not as good, because its nothing we haven't already seen.

I do enjoy Velocitaptor and Trex carnage for what it is though.

In part 2 I really hated the extended action scene with the cars over the edge of the cliff, and anything to do with the black girl. It was all super forced. That all sucked. The only thing I really remember about part 2 other than that was the T rex roaring at all the police cars and them driving away. That was a lol

Really? I thought that was the best sequence in the entire movie.

Killing the t-rex was like WWE-esque putting the monster heel over.
