Movies Rate and Discuss the Last Movie You Saw v.16

Awesome. I'd like to as well. The original is a classic but the second one really impresses me any time I re-visit it. I think it's one of those rare comedy sequels that are nearly as good as the original. The Waynestock stuff is great (the guy playing Jim Morrison is hilarious) and Robert Brown's character, Del Preston, the greatest roadie who ever lived steals the show.

Haha. Sounds about right. Plenty of room for silly stuff in the horror genre.

Yeah I have waynes world 2 among the best comedy sequels of all time. The Kevin Pollock scene, naked Indian and morrison like you said, ymca scene. Wayne vs Cassandra's dad (James hong). Great stuff.

Just finished The Substance. All I can say is what the actual fuck?!

The last 30 or so mins was hair completely off the rails.

I don’t even know how to rate that madness
I saw this at theatre late night with very few people and left with the same “what the actual fuck” feeling you described. I was happy to see it get Oscar nominated , horror films rarely get love.

Bring Her Back (Australia, 2025)
Rating: 7/10

The Philippou brothers trade the party tricks of Talk to Me for something colder and creepier. Sally Hawkins is magnetic—half mother, half monster—and the movie orbits her like a doomed planet. It’s part haunted house, part psychological breakdown, filmed in mildew tones and midnight shadows. The story starts strong, occasionally wobbles, and then dives into madness. Not every swing connects, but the ones that do hit bone. The basic mechanics are clear about 30 minutes in, but that did not stop the Philippou brothers from freaking me the fuck out a few times. Despite this not being my favourite genre, I probably have to watch everything that they make going forward.

this one was proper unnerving. these guys are super legit

Watched northman

Personally i liked it, receiption was apperantly negative and i can see why with all the spiritual stuff so definetly not for everyone, Film is meant to be a norse saga/legend/fairytale, not "realistic" in a sense

From what i understand its at moment most accurate portrayal of viking culture on screen

About 8 out of 10 for me with "not for everybody" warning

I watched the new Toxic Avenger. The movie is less interesting and less entertaining than the 1st one, and that's saying something. Making him a midget was a poor decision. He looks like a garbage pail kid. It's really stupid. I expected it to be, but it was still worse than that. 3/10.

Road House (2024) on Amazon Prime - 3 out of 10

Just didn't have the magic as the original. It copied minor bits here and there. The characters sucked. No hot naked woman of the big boss. No hot naked Kelly Lynch as Doc. The rival of Dalton didn't have the same aura as the guy who used to have sexual relations with men in prison. They didn't really show why Dalton was the legendary badass.

Final Destination: Bloodlines

I've caught a few of these flicks over the years, and even took one of my old girlfriends to see the original. Always liked it's very simplistic setup of Death just chasing people around and getting the job done in all sorts of spectacular ways.

This one was pretty good, but the opening sequence kind of buries the rest of the movie. It's so good, that the rest of movie simply can't top it. It is honestly one of the very best openings to a movie I've seen in a while. It's practically a short film. I was glued to it, and the payoff was absolutely incredible.

Unfortunately, it has to become an actual movie after that. It plays around with the concept well enough, and there's some fun to be had with the plot and some of the kills, but everything feels secondary to the magnum opus that is the opening sequence. Without that, it would just be another FD movie with some cheap thrills.

Opening sequence: 10/10

The rest: 7/10

Good Fortune (2025)

My Rating: 6/10

Its alright at best. Keanu has a few moments in being funny but he was mostly dry, plain, and a little boring whenever hes talking. If hes not doing great action scenes/stunts hes pretty boring tbh

Aziz? Should never be the main character of any movie. He directed this movie and it has some funny moments but overall he commands 0 presence on screen and I didnt really care at all about his story. Hes dating Keke Palmer in this too which is another head scratcher.

When Seth rogen is your best actor in the movie, you have a problem.

Worth seeing in the theater? No

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Hard to rate this classic. The creativity and flair is brilliant, but underneath its still quite a formulaic teen slasher with the typical shallow cannon fodder characters. Even Freddy is quite sterile and still warming to the role. I forgot how great the score was, and how effectively it was used in almost every scene. That is how a horror movie should be.

btw for the sheep who keep saying Weapons it so original and unique. Elm Street is an example of what fresh an original really is and why Weapons is the literal opposite.

7/10

I also preferred the chick in the beginning over the actual protagonist of the movie
