Watched Anora last week actually. Surprised it won the oscar.

I watched a quarter of the movie Anora, I may be a curmudgeon but I don't see how this essentially won the best movie of last year. Watched Brutalist and it seemed more Oscar-baity. Am not watching any fraction of Emilia Perez. Watched The Substance, part of Wicked, and A Complete Unknown was flat to me

 

[I Am Legion]

A movie like Anora not only winning best picture, but best actress as well is very surprising considering the subject matter, and soft porn scenes. That performance was NOT better than Moore in The Substance. I think Brody deserved his win. Dune 2 got best Special Effects. Wicked best costumes, both no brainers. I felt bad Wild Robot lost best animated to Flow. Flow was interesting and at times beautiful, but it was more like an art project. Wild Robot was a great entertaining film. Wicked did not win any music, sound, or score awards.

The oscars has radicalized itself out of relevance. They are completely out of touch with our shared culture.

Went through a list of every movie that came out and the only ones that really stood out to me were

Longlegs
Heretic
and Smile 2.

Awful year for movies.
