Ranking Batman movies

Call me an asshole, but Batman Returns was the only one I liked

;)

1. The Dark Knight

2. Everything Else...

1. Michael Keaton
2. Michael Keaton
3. Michael Keaton
4. Michael Keaton
5. Dark Knight

One of the first CDs I ever owned, U2 was rocking back in the day. Forever doesn't hold up well but it was one of the first big theatrical experiences of my life. It was an ensemble cast of A list stars at the time with a soundtrack of contemporary pop artists. It was all the perfect ingredients for a great summer blockbuster.

And that prime Nicole Kidman

Batman Forever was really the peak of the all star blockbuster soundtrack craze in the 90's I'd say(either that or Godzilla), so much so that I think the music clearly overshadowed the film and indeed covered for its lack of quality.

Really the Nolan and Burton Batman films are such different pieces of cinema its pretty hard to rate them against each other I'd say, everything else is clearly a lot worse.

1. Batman (89)
2. Batman begins
3. The Dark Knight
4. Batman Returns
5. The Dark Knight Rises

1. Joker (2008)
2. Bane
3. Catwoman and Penguin
4. Joker (1989)

IMO Batman's always the supporting character in his movies (except for introductory Batman Begins and Batman '89). The villains are always the ones carrying the movie because Batman is such a one-dimensional role especially in the Nolan films. TDK feels like a Joker movie with frequent Batman cameos.

Honorable Mention: Batman Forever... because Nicole Kidman.

My ALL TIME GREATEST Batman movie is the Lego Batman movie. That movie rocks.

Haven't watched any of the cartoon movies so I won't rank them.

1. Batman
2. The Dark Knoght

Begins is the best one they ever made
Dark Knight mostly for Ledger's perfromance
Batman 89
Rises is all about Bane
Returns
Forever
Robin I couldn't even get through this one without turning it off though

1. Joker (2008)
2. Bane
3. Catwoman and Penguin

I would say that issue was strongest with Burton films were Batman was very much pushed into the background and became almost an antagonist in the villians stories. The giveaway really is how much take we get devoted to the villians origins in those films relative to Batmans.

In Nolan's films the Joker/Harvey are quite dominant in the Dark Knight but for me Batman/Bruce is clearly the lead character in the other two.

I have mixed feelings. None of them ever blew my mind like say....The Matrix. Burton is polarizing to me, sometimes he just loses me. But Batman 89 was the best. Returns was ok, the rest of the original were not. Then Nolan comes and makes quality movies but the fun is taken out. They are all very dark and gritty. I thought Begins was good, as was TDK. Didn’t care for Rises. I think Affleck is a geed Batman, he just needs better movies.

1. Batman 89
2. Begins
3. Returns
4. TDK
5. BVS

The animated ones are amazing and could be 1-3.

1) TDK
2) Batman (89)
3) Mask of the Phantasm (love that this movie is getting some love. Was one of my favorite movies as a kid)
4) Batman Begins

The Dark Knight is carried by Ledger's performance, but Batman Begins is a better film. I don't care about any of them enough to rate them though.
