Overall Opinion: the film I watched the most was Color of money. It's the only film I watched twice during this Cruise watch and I liked it so much I could easily watch it again. it could very well be #1.

Risky Business to me is the best 80s high school movie. It's the perfect mix of comedy and drama that ties up nicely at the end. Ferris Bullers race home scene had to have been influenced when Joel is racing to get his parents house back in order.

Mission Impossible & Edge of tomorrow are his 2 best action films. The top 3 films I believe could all make a case for my #1.

His most underrated film: Mission Impossible 2. I watched this in the theater at the time and maybe once more after but I've always considered this the weakest MI film and boy was I wrong. Mission Impossible 2 is Kung Fu Ethan Hunt chasing after the hottest MI babe in the franchise imo (Thandiwe Newton)

His worst film: The Mummy. I actually enjoyed the first 15 mins or so of the movie until it completely falls apart.
I think all of his films are worth watching minus this one. Even Losin It which is his lowest rated movie on IMDB I actually found enjoyable.

His weakest decade for sure was the 2000s. I don't think any of his films in that decade were great.

Questions, comments, concerns? Let's hear it.

No love for the Outsiders :(

What an insane list of movies for someone at the top of the game for 4 decades. You can literally pick a movie at random and chances are at the very least it's decent to watchable, and then very possibly any number if levels above that in quality. Hard to argue anyone in history is a better movie star.

Aside: American Made is his most underrated, imo

Eyes Wide Shut then Magnolia. The rest are all solid except Cocktail but I had a crush on Shue in my yoof so still worth a watch.

Legend and Tropic Thunder are the only two good ones imo

Legend was kind of dumb in the sense the entire film only happens because the dumb girl throws her ring in the water to make Jack get it. She nearly gets him killed for no reason other then to flaunt her beauty and make Jack run in circles for her

I think Labyrinth is much better

Labyrinth is much a better movie, mainly because Tom cruise isn’t in it.

I liked it, thought it was really good. Sort of had that Blow feel to it. His 2010s is up there with his 80s & 90s work. For sure his best decade for action films.

Risky Biz, TG Maverick, Color of Money.

Not related but I never understood the praise for the movie Magnolia.

Top Gun Maverick would have been higher for me IF Maverick didn't have that weird shrine of Goose (I can understand a pic or 2 but he has nothing but Goose pics all over his wall lol were they friends or lovers?) and if it ended when Maverick and Rooster hug. It's for sure way way better than the original top gun which I like more for the soundtrack than the actual movie.

Also glad The color of money is getting a lot of love. Some wanna be Cruise fan dork called it his most overrated film. I personally think it has the highest replay value out of them all.

Eyes wide shut doesn't get its due. Its a great horror movie when you consider the ending.
Yeah it's a frightening and unsettling film and the ending is creepy as fuck. A lot of people don't seem to get Kubrick's symbolism. But Eyes Wide Shut is starting to get recognition now. It's just like The Shining. Takes 20 years for people to catch up to Kubrick.

I think a primary reason I chose The Color of Money was because I used to be an avid pool player. Used to play all the time in area tournaments and leagues. I'm kind of the fence with the shrine to Goose. It does seem to be a tad serial killer/stalker like--unlike Cruise's character.

Not to mention there's a lot of the film that was cut out, I think they said it was over 23 mins but it could have been as much as 43 mins.

I remember the guy was on Rogans podcast with Tarantino talking about it.

There's a ton of detail in the movie you have to pick up on your own it's just an incredible watch.

I still think Nicole Kidman was at that party getting banged when she tells him about the dream she had. They never say but it wouldn't surprise me if her character was given away at a young age just like she does when she gives away her daughter.

I could see this film climbing the Cruise ranks for me.

I've a fan of The Hustler so to see Fast Eddie getting back into playing again is so great to watch unfold. Paul Newman is at his best here and with Scorcese behind the camera it's shot so beautifully.

Forest Whitaker in little screen time he got made his presence known, he held his own with Newman.

There was a discussion last year in Mayberry about a sequel to The Color of Money. Since Fast Eddie hit rock bottom and rose from the ashes in both films it would make sense to see Cruise's character do the same in another installment.

Yeah I would be all for it only if Scorcese is directing it. Tom could easily play the Newman role now, it could be about the game dying and they're trying to bring it back.

Tom Holland could be a worthy protege. Considering Scorcese loves Leo I wouldn't mind seeing Leo play as Cruises rival.
