Question/Advice Ranked dead last.... trying not to go 0-10

Erik, I noticed some holes in your game. I'm going to give you the wisdom I have accrued during my 3 rounds of light muay thai sparing, my 0 and 1 grade school fight record, and over 40,000 hours of keyboard warrior training.

1 Your shorts are horrendous. Get you some of these https://www.facebook.com/ThaiCultur...te-their-world-tour-thailand/256926936657066/ Anthony Keidis approved shorts and lose the pink ones fast. Perhaps include the entire ensemble with top hat, cheap sun glasses and strange orange gloves if you can find them. Walkout to "Can't stop" You might still lose, but you will look much cooler and probably have a good shot at taking home a ring card girl or meeting the Red Hot Chili Peppers or both.

2- Full chest, back and sleeve tattoo'ed guys are who win fights,,,,,,,you need to up your tat game stat. A sherdog chest piece almost ensures victory via fear. Your opponent will probably tap during the weigh in stare down once he sees this -
sherdog logo.jpg
3- clean shaven bald headed guys win fights. Kimo beats Royce if he didn't have the top knot.....don't be Kimo'd (or would it be Royce'd?) by having an opponent sweep you via man bun tug. Up your razor game to a 5 to 6 blade minimum with the little moisturizing strip too. You'll sweat less, slip out of chokes like your head was a greased oyster and my Gillette stock might go up a point or two.

4- I didn't see the weigh in but having a Sherdog University Phd. in Shookology, I can tell that Mikkelsen was not nearly as shook as you needed him to be pre-fight. I would start everyday with some mean mugging and stink eye exercises in front of the mirror. Then in your warm ups at the gym practice flinching guys with a quick fake like your going to randomly punch them for no reason. This should raise your shooking to a much higher level. That and the Sherdog Chest piece Tat should guarantee victory before the cage door even opens.

5- My fight strategy for any opponent would be Touch him with the jab then fill the cage with upper cuts!

All kidding aside, I hope you get a win and that you are getting the experiences and stories you wanted from this journey while retaining your health.

PS_ if you do get that win, please remember to say "I owe it all to Toasty" in the post fight interview.

I thought it would be extra trollish to wear undersized pink shorts.
Yeah I mean it would be funny and cool if you win. But if you get finished in the first round it just makes you look worse.

Maybe if you had some print that said booty warrior or something, to make it known you were trolling. That would have been funnier

Can you post a tapology page for your upcoming opponent?

Maybe we can help you out with film study.

If you reply to this post or @ me with links, or even better, embedded YouTube videos of this dude fighting -

...no promises... but I will TRY to help you out by doing a film study and seeing if I can find tells or tendencies that might be useful to you.

Do you have a coach for ths fight?
Team?
Gameplan?

If yes to above, they should be helping with this, if no to above (I know you mentioned several times having used a self taught approach) ... then all the more reason why you might benefit from a sherbro fight analysis

Oh fuck yeah the "Cry a Teer” fight team is being born right hear on Sherdog. i can see the bloody head starting to crown.

@toasty carries the spit bucket and mops up all blood and teeth

@jeff7b9 is going to be our "guy in the chair" tech dude and video breakdown guy, social media promoter and hype guy.

@Sinister will be his trainer or is it @Strychnine that trains people? i can't keep those two straight in my rabbit brain.

@biscuitsbrah his best friend and training partner that will one day stab Erik in the back to promote his own career

@DoctorTaco is our cut guy

@Natural Order seems ruthless enough to be his manager

@eateer as our sacrificial lamb to be led to the slaughter so we can steal all his fight purses and sponsorship $'s

@jeffsherdog needs to kick in the multi million sponsorship money for new fight shorts and that chest piece logo tat stat.

sinister is a world class boxing coach. He and I both train people and I’d work second for him anytime. Ironically I just sent a bunch of messages out to local pros offering my cutman services for a card later this month.

Oh this is powerul. I had a clear inspiration that the only souls that would ever understand the heart of the troll, only the Sher bros. They would be the only ones that could and would ever support my delusional dreams. It’s just the beginning. I have a 30 lb weight loss I need to achieve in the next 30 days. I will be the biggest and strongest 165 fighter to ever enter the cage.

How much are you getting paid for a fight on average?

Bro- who is your opponent?

If ... you post the enemy's name, tapology page, or any youtube clips of his fighting....

I may or may not Choose to do a film study and try to help your old ass find the holes in this motherfuckers game so you can go whoop that ass and get your old delusional ass a W.

As a fellow old delusional gentleman I support your crazy journey and would love to see you whoop this kids ass good and proper.

Ok.. I got something for you.

This stevens guy... he comes into the clinch with his arms WIDE and in this fight kept going to overhooks or Thai plum clinch.

That pattern will leave him vulnerable to attacks and takedowns up the middle.

Also with his seeming tendency to NOT fight for inside arm position, you should be able to jab or feint high and level change for a single leg takedown or ankle pick.

I would advise this type of sneaky inside upwards elbow strike.

- It attacks where his defense is weak.
- It is not a super common technique that a lot of guys are likely to expect, it isn't a crazy athletic movement
- It is actually quite Efficient motion/energy wise
- it maintains defensive responsibility

I'm not sure what your preferred or bread and butter techniques but what I see so far watching this guy is that attacks up the middle should find high success rate.

Good crisp straight line jab
Uppercuts
Knee to the body (keep your guard up)

Win the inside battle.

Stevens loves the Thai Plum so prepare for countering that.
Do you have a judo hip throw in your tool set that you can use?

Where do YOU want the fight to go and what positions amd techniques do you want to utilize?

Stevens seems to be a little lazy about using his long arms to frame, but he leaves them out and you could take advantage of this, either for takedowns or for HEAVY strike attacks. That extended arm is not all that strong the way he is doing it, and he does it with both arms sometimes.

If his arms are reaching straight out his ribs, liver, kidney are exposed

His tendency not to prioritize underhooks will likely leave him open to takedowns. He is a striker, all his fights are striking only. Take him to the ground

If I was fighting him I would feint and jab high, then either shoot the single

or pummel and fight for underhooks (which he offers minimal resistance too) then work to side control and look for an arm triangle.

His kicks come swinging around wide.
You could catch a kick amd drag him down if you want. He doesn't retract those kicks fast enough

Stevens also has a bad habit of falling somewhat lazy into the clinch... you could draw him in, step back and walk him into a hard strike. - just make sure you defend his initial attack. He didn't seem to string together long combos, he is doing a muay Thai version of jab n grab, but it is more hook/roudhouse and Thai plum

Guard yourself against wide outside attacks while countering with hard linear inside attacks.

______________/

If you get in trouble.. head butt him.

It will look like he pulled you into him because of his constant spamming of the Thai Plum.

If he is pulling your head in the Thai Plum, push away up high, shoulders collarbone or face... when he instinctively reacts by squeezing, headbutt....

oopsie. <Neil01> He pulled me into his face
I was just trying to level change to get out of the Thai clinch.

__________

Edit - watching more-

End your combinations with right uppercut or left "upperhook"

He will be looking to clinch at that point because he does that EVERY TIME.

While he is grabbing, that is when you throw POWER.

After his second strike he clinches.

1-2 grab

Jab roundhouse GRAB

As he gets tired his punches get more looping. Keep your guard high and ATTACK on or after his 2nd strike. You can probably catch him grabbing or framing and his chin is UP in the air and his guard is not there.

__________

Hard to tell for sure from a striking clip, but he looks like he might favor standing guillotine.

I'll be honest- I was usually taller than my sparring partners so I didn't have to defense this much. Maybe someone else can advise. My instinct is that if you keep your guard high as default to protect from his punches then they should be near your chin to prevent him from getting his forearm under your chin, also keep your chin tucked, beside helping defend the guillotine it could also hurt his hand if he punches the top of your head
