Rank these submarine movies in order:

Das Boot (1981)
Crimson Tide (1992)
The Hunt for Red October (1990)
U-571 (2000)
K-19: The Widowmaker (2002)

That is my order of preference. Das Boot is the Saving Private Ryan of sub films. Crimson Tide is a very good #2 but a distance from first.

I liked Hunt best outta those. Haven't seen Das Boot tho.

honestly though, it's tough to beat Das Boot.. Great movie overall... Submarine movie or not

Das Boot is great.
Can't say I remember much of the others.
Vaguely recall The Hunt for Red October not being too bad.

Down Periscope outranks them all.

GTFO. The opening party scene of mighty Das Boot literally pisses all over any scene from the Down Periscope movie. For those of you who have never seen it, you should.

I don't think I've seen a single one of those films.

I'll start with Das Boot tonight and let you know.

Below is clearly better than all of those.
"Das Boot"? LOL. We're talking about sub movies.... not footwear movies, you knob.

Crimson Tide was one of my favorite childhood movies but I'm not sure it holds up. Plus the realism snobs have shit all over it too.

I'll watch Das Boot.

Never watched Das boot, but out of the ones provided

Red October
Crimson Tide
U571
K19

Fords accent is pretty bad

Das Boot is excellent. The rest of the list are mediochre or worse.

What, No 20,000 leagues beneath the sea?

As an actual submarine sailor, I did appreciate the efforts for realism in the 'Hunt for Red October'. They captured the feel of life aboard a 688 quite well.
