Range reports: Whatcha do this week?

Went down to the free 100 yard range in SC yesterday with a friend of mine. I brought along my 1911, Shield, VZ58, and Mossberg. He brought his M&P 9c and another friend of ours let us borrow his XD40. Put over 400 rounds downrange of assorted calibers. It hurts with the current shortage but it was a good time. It was his first time ever shooting a rifle and he was hitting our target at the 100 yard line every time(a 3ft tall box lol).

^ looks like a good time!

I had an embarrassing time last time at the range. Spent most of the day shooting my AR and then switched to my friends Remington 700 (which I had shot before with no issue). I guess I didn't adjust my position enough as I was used to the little recoil of my rifle plus apparently he switched to a heavier grain ammo. Ended up taking the scope right between my eyes. Still have a bump and bruise lol.

Just put my dad's old scope on my 10/22 and heading to the range on tuesday to dial it in. Also gonna take my new Marlin's virginity with a few dozen rounds. I'll try to remember to take some pics to share the results.

Too out my new sig p250 yesterday... I felt like a newb trying to learn that trigger. It's LONG and fairly heavy. On the plus side, there is no noticeable 'jump' before the hammer falls. I was pulling all my shots slightly to the right and low as well. :( Learning a new gun sucks some times.

Having the same issue with a S&W Bodyguard.

infinitywarrior and I were at the range on May 14th and I took some picks to share. All these targets were about 100 or more yards away and we were using our scoped .22 rifles. We fought with a wicked cross wind the whole day but we had fun.

My first long range target.

Same Target, my 10/22 in pic for scale.

We set up a zombie each and took 10 shots at them. I think I overcompensated for the cross wind.

Can't wait to get out there and practice some more.

BONUS: Zombie didn't like the shotgun haha

I took my SKS to my buddy's outdoor range a few days ago. I'm happy with my purchase, she was pretty dead on at the 200 yard gong. However, the High Standard Tantal (kbk wz. 88) was green light for sale and if I'm fast enough, I'll have one...which may, unfortunately, either move my SKS to the back of the safe, or into someone else's.

Shot a reflexive fire range this week with my M4 and M9. Day and night with NVG's and PEQ15 lasers. Fires upwards of 700 round with the M4 and 120-180 with the M9.

Some thoughts/Observations:

1) The ACOG is slow at distances of less than 25 yards. The magnification takes time to adjust to and I felt my times and accuracy were both degraded when compared to a CCO type optic. People with the HAMR from Leoupold appreciated having the CCO on top.

2) Quality mags are a must have. I used MAGPUL and ProMags for the Beretta, both performed without hiccup the whole day. Other with army issued mags had problems feeding.

3) Full IOTV with front back and side SAPI plates gets heavy with a full load of rounds.

4) People doing the brass dance flag everyone around them. Range safety, as always at an Army run range was garbage.

Excellent week at the range. On Canada Day myself and naked duck went out and rattled off a good 500 rounds for more of .22 on paper, steel and pop haha, as well as some bird and buckshot. Today i picked up the FMK, i love it so far, performed great and got it at a great price. Great weather and lots of fun. Nice to have a 9mm again. :icon_chee

over 500 rounds each haha I figured you'd get the fmk within the week, I can't wait to give it a try.

Was up at the in-laws' ranch for the fourth. Brought along the 10-22 and the FAL. First time shooting both rifles. dialed in the gas block on the FAL, and put about 100 rounds through each gun. The 10-22 had a few misfeeds, but only on 1 mag (a 25 round pro-mag), and the FAL ran smoothly after dialing int he gas block.

Shooting semi-prone from a bench (without a bag or bipod) using factory iron sights, I was consistently hitting the center of a coke can at 20 strides (about 100 ft) with the Ruger, and getting every shot on paper at 100 yards with the FAL by the end of the second day.

I've got the FAL rigged for optics, but haven't been working regularly this summer, and waiting for work to pick back up before I start shopping for a scope. May pick up a cheap .22 scope for the Ruger as well.

I had a friend in town so we loaded up the Jeep with about all we could carry.

Pistols:
Beretta M9 9mm: Shot 10 rounds each.
CZ 85 9mm: Shot about 40-50 rounds each and now my buddy needs one of these he says.
Magnum Research Baby Eagle .40: Shot about 25-30 rounds each.

Rifles:
Barret Rec7 6.8SPC: 60 rounds with iron sights.
MSAR STG-556 .223Rem: 60 rounds with an Eotech.
Umarex HK 416 .22LR: Hundreds of rounds with iron sights. Fun as shit to shoot.

Shotgun:
Saiga 12 12gauge: Shot about 30 rounds or so.

Cleaning was a half day endeavor!!

Just finished up a 2 day holster course at my range, so I can start playing "games". 500 rounds later, I ended up with the infamous "Glock knuckle". Did the course with my Glock 17 and Blade Tech OWB kydex holster and double mag pouches. No malfunctions except for those that were intentionally set up for malfunction drills. Great times, especially had fun with the "Mozambique". Looks like my ammo bills will be exponentially increasing in the near future.

Another great week at the range. Bought the M&P .22, fired it right out of the box, no issues whatsoever, very accurate, love it. Put about 150 rounds through it. The FMK is getting smoother and smoother, another 200 rounds no issues. So if your reading this pure dominance, FMK is seeming like a good bet.

Tried out the stormlake .357 sig barrel for my glock 23.

Bought a 300 rd box of Umarex reloaded .357 sig ammo.

Brought 50 rounds to the range today. Everything in the red at 15 feet. The ammo was a little inconsistent, with some of the rounds a little hot, but no cracked or swollen brass.

Only put 50 rounds through it, but it seemed a little dirty. There were a few flakes of brass-colored powder in the barrel, and the patches were black after cleaning.

Watched my wife outshoot 10 dudes at her CCH class.

Many LOLs were had.

i didn't realize glock knuckle was a thing. it would certainly explain the callus i've developedon the knuckle of my middle finger. i'm glad im not alone!!

I shot about 150 rounds thru my new sig p220, about the same in my sig sp2022 & glock 19. No misfires, etc. I also picked uo a galco king tuck holster for the p220 for 30% off. Gotta say it was a good day.
