Randy Couture (2007) vs. Fedor Emelianenko (2018)

Randy is underrated as hell. You can’t tell me he wouldn’t beat a lot of today’s top HWs.

Curtis Blaydes gets a lot of hype as one of the better wrestlers of today and he’s nowhere near the skill of Randy. He doesn’t have the credentials of Randy. He hasn’t fought nearly as good of a wrestler as Randy has.

Currently i guess Fedor, may tko him, but i don't really care

Prime Fedor will have absolutely wreckked him though
Prime for prime, Fedor might be Greater, but Randy was a bad style match up for him, and certainly good enough to have had potential to win the fight. Especially in the cage.

If Randy doesn't wash his hands before the fight, he wins

Strange match up but randy wins it easily. Fedor is a shell of his former self, and that's putting it lightly.

In both their primes i think we'd in for a close match, but Fedor would take it.

I think Fedor would've wrecked Randy when they wanted to do the fight 10 years ago, but this is a much closer fight because they're closer in age.

44-year-old Randy Couture who beat Tim Sylvia and Gonzaga vs. 42-year-old Fedor who KO'd washed up Frank Mir and Chael Sonnen in round 1.

You gotta remember though that Randy was on TRT for the last 10 years of his career. He just kept it quiet until he retired.

I think there is more to Crocops issues in the ufc.
He stopped kicking and was acting like a guy with a bad back, walking around all stiff. Old school minded guys like him would still fight for the payday rather than retire, but there was something going on with that guy.

I don't buy the whole cage/ring thing either. I think the rules and location are a bigger adjustment to make. Fighters say that if you are fighting in the east or coming from far east to west, it is wise to stay in the country long enough to get used to being there before your fight or it takes a heavy toll.

I think the Pride guys ran into some of this coming over, just like I think some of the guys from the ufc that hopped over there for a fight here and there had the same issues.

It was a bunch of things for cc ...... he had just won the owgp which was his biggest goal I mean guy worked like a madman towards that, there are videos of him training for that and when you compare them to the the ones he published when coming to the ufc it’s night and day. His motivation was lacking, he completely underestimated the octagon, did not train properly at all, was overall arrogant about the whole thing and just did not care enough. His body took a lot of damage after the Gonzaga fight as well as his mental game. It was a perfect storm of things .. I hated it cuz he was the reason I watched mma in the first place and knew the guy was soooopo much better than what he showed in the ufc

Fedor sucks now while Randy in 2007 was HW champ. Is this a serious question?

This is an easy one. 2007 Fedor whups 2007 Randy. 2007 Randy whups 2018 Fedor. Insert your own joke about 2018 Randy's improved hand speed.

Fedor KO, followed by another Randy JO

The cage has specificities that you can't deny though, when in the clinch, and is much bigger making it harder to corner a grappler for a striker.
Not to mention many former PRIDE guys ( and fighters from others orgs ) commented on the mat.
Let's remember the guy that created that ruleset and environnement was a former high level wrestler that did it to favor fellow wrestlers...

When you put it that way it makes sense. I also remember the difference in matting and grip of different canvas in the the regional events when I competed in kickboxing. Every promoter had a slightly different setup. I would correct my original statement. I also think there was other issues with the fighters as well.

Agreed.

That's a miss match.

Fedor then and Randy then fedor wins.

But prime Randy vs fight worn fedor now? Nope Randy savages him.

He was declining at the end of Pride, his knees/ankles and legs in general had taken a lot of damage and the injuries were piling up. He fucked up his ankle before the Hunt fight and messed it up again on Wanderlei's head.
