Rampage vs Forrest Griffin UFC 86

CLose fight. Forrest won imo, but I wouldn't have gone on some energy drink fueled rampage in a monster truck had Quinton won or anything like that.
{<jordan}lmao....
And i like rampage(as a fighter) too, but the guys behaviour (high speed chase, sexually assaulting women on camera, saying his losses to wandy were fixes)genuinely makes him hard to like

Good fight, thought the decision went the right way. Also I remember Rampage saying he bet his whole purse the fight wouldn't go to a decision

Leg kicks and not taking Forest serious is what hurt Rampage. He said after he had no clue Griffin was that athletic and tough.

Rampage was the most dangerous guy, clearly.

This was Forrest's peak. He was extremely well prepared and highly motivated for that fight.

He did a lot of point fighting, but everyone does vs. Rampage Jackson.

The two iconic fighters squared off in a 5 round battle in Nevada. Ofcourse Forrest would go on and capture the UFC title then subsequentially lose to Rashad Evans in his first title defense. Who was truly the greater fighter that night? Rampage or Forrest Griffin? I chose Rampage due to more significant strikes and effective damage. Either way it was a close fight.

Seeing the word 'Iconic' and Forrest Griffin in the same sentence does not compute.
Iconic/icon is a term open to personal interpretation.

I am blown away by your intelligent response here. I felt continents shift.

I remember Rampage got really pissed at Joe Rogan because he keep going on about how Rampage doesn't check leg kicks at all. Or throw leg kicks for that matter.

I thought Forrest won but that is probably because hes so damn sexy.

In those days you didn't need to beat the champ to be the champ.

I scored the fight 48/47 for Rampage, and still say the judges robbed him. I could understand the judges scoring the fight 47/47 if they scored the second round 10-8 in favor of Griffin, but two of the score cards where absolutely atrocious. 1,2,3 on one card, and 1,2,3,5 in favor of Griffin on another, get the fuck outta here. It was still a great title fight.

Forrest clearly won a decision. No controversy.

Rampage took him lightly and never prepared for the leg kicks that determined the fight.
Agreed. This is the one fight I am befuddled about. I see no controversy. Seen that fight 5 times, albeit years ago, and can't fathom it going to Rampage.

I had Forrest winning... but really, toss a coin.. wouldn't have had a problem had the decision went the other way. Was a good fight, and like both fighters.

If I recall correctly, Rampage almost tapped out. Also, Griffin put a clinic in full mount and could have easily gotten a 10-7 round. I don't know why you guys think it was so close. Maybe get your eyes check?

Yea. Couldnt believe it. I originally gave Page a 10-8 for the kd in the 1st. And had a draw. But after rewatching, no.

Seems like if Rampage just swarmed Forrest hed have killed him, but fighting a technical fight vs Griffin back then was dumb. Shogun also learned this.

Forrest had little power or explosiveness, but was durable and technical. To beat him you had to swarm and be aggresive, he couldnt keep up.

10-7?

No. But he basically got a kd from leg kicks, so 10-8. Not like he did crazy damage when on top..

Imo 10-7 is only possible with a ref that didnt do his job.

I was lucky enough to be in attendance that night. I thought Ramage won, but I was cheering hard for him! Forrest jacked up his leg pretty good...
