Rampage vs Forrest Griffin UFC 86

Close fight where Rampage lost a 10-8 cuz of low kicks and top control/GnP. Won the 1st and came back strong late in the fight, landing the bigger blows. I thought Rampage won based on damage of punches, as I value them more than low kicks and volume punching, but it was close.

This was during that magical time when nobody could hold a belt

Chuck had it and defended it four times and lost it to rampage who defended it once but lost to Forest

Forest immediately lost to Rashad who immediately lost to Machida who immideately (cause their first fight was a loss, come on) lost it to Shogun who immediately lost it to Jon Jones who drove cars badly

....Shogun who immediately lost it to Jon Jones who drove cars badly and lost it to a telephone pole and/or a pregnant lady.

so is the pregnant lady lineal LHW champ?

i think griffin edged it out over 5 rounds. that was a good event all round

Everyone remembers the legkicks of griffin while I only remeber the fucking awesome standing guillotine while blasting jackson with knees. Rampage went down to escape the onslaught

I was probably 9/10 rustled after watching that fight. Mad to think that Forrest "TUF Noob God" Griffin, beat 2 of Pride's best back to back. Sherdog went crazy.

Then he lost the title to another TUF guy. Crazy times in the UFC.
page beat chuck, forrest beat shogun to get to page. forrest beat page, then lost it the next. fight to shad. shad dropped it to machicha who defended (maybe) against shogun, then dropped it to shogun who then dropped it to jones. tito, chuck, and jones are the only ones to defend i the past 10 years hahaha. the books will show cornier has as well, but the fans know better.

I thought rampage won, but it was close. I was also extremely biased as a slampage fan though.

I never rewatched this fight, but obviously thought that Rampage won and was legitimately baffled by the decision.

what I remember most clearly from that scrap:

Seriously? That was more memorable than the knockdown?

Yes but they let her go to Bellator

so you forgot about the knockdown in that fight, but remember a specific leg kick?
Nope. There was far more than one leg kick. One thing that sticks out was rampage close to the fence when forrest landed another very heavy one and I can remember the pain being very visible on rampages face.

Do you have any more questions?

Idk what betting odds were, but I remember thinking Forrest should've been an EASY win for Rampage.

Part of Forrest's legacy will forever be outperforming his abilities. Awesome fight, he def won

Had it 47-47 Rampage (1,3,4) Forrest (2,5)

Really the fight should have gone down to rounds 3, 5 where if Rampage won either he retains (either via draw at 47-47 or win 48-47 if you scored round 2 10-8).

One judge scored round 1 for Forrest which I always found to be insane.

Every time I watched it, I thought Rampage clearly won rounds 1, 3, and 4, but round 2 might be a 10-8 which would make it a draw.

I scored it the same. Tough to say if the 2nd was 10-8, as you had to practically murder your opponent to get a 10-8 back then.

CLose fight. Forrest won imo, but I wouldn't have gone on some energy drink fueled rampage in a monster truck had Quinton won or anything like that.

You missed the point of the rhetorical question.

you some how managed to forget about a knockdown in a championship fight... forget about the fact that Rampage's camp claimed he won that round 10-8 due to a knockdown, which sparked discussions around the sport regarding what constitutes a 10-8 in MMA...

tl, dr - you're full of shit. you did not watch the fight in 2008. Hell I dont think you watched the fight at all Mr 'I remember the face someone made from taking a a leg kick from 10 years ago, but not the knockdown from that same fight"

tll, dr, ky - fk off.

Lol shut the fuck up you weird cunt.

You have literally no idea what the fuck you're on about.

I remember scoring it for Rampage. I actually watched that fight at an event at the Bell centre which was hosted by GSP. They asked him at the end of the fight who he thought won before the decision was read. He scored it for Rampage as well.
