Rambo: Last Blood

Just got back from an advanced screening with my wife. Best action movie since the first John Wick. Highly recommend it. The finale is a heart-stopper. Literally.

Halfway through the film my wife (an immigrant herself) shouted, "That's why we need a wall!" <45>

Anyway, great film. Check it out, you nancy boys.

Menopause: Last Blood

I agree that it just felt generic and vanilla. It wasn’t a Rambo movie, it could have been any of the low budget action movies he did between the mid 90’s and Expendables. I just didn’t feel like I was watching John Rambo when I did for part 4.

That's the main problem. His character changed - this simply isn't John Rambo. Rambo isn't a sadist. Rambo isn't dumb enough to do all these things.

Rambo 4 was the perfect ending. Simple and effective plot, his character makes sense, you got some good supporting characters with arcs of their own, it's a good movie. Everything explodes, he mows people down, and it's like the crescendo of his whole character. Then he goes home. The end.

Home alone 5 doesn't exist and neither does Rambo 5

Exactly. It just felt like he was showing off all his abilities. I always felt a crucial piece of the Rambo character is that he wasn’t proud of who and what he is

The last movie was terrible and very mediocre and I'm far from being a snow flake.

To put it in perspective... I went to the theatre to watch Rambo 4 and during the big action scene at the end where he is mowing everyone down people were cheering loudly and going nuts. After the movie everoyne was saying how awesome the movie was.

In Rambo 5 some people left the movie midway and at the end it was dead quiet with most guys saying "That wasn't good".

I disliked the last movie because the movie was really short, plot bounced around way to much and if you are going to have unrealistic scenes like the previous movies... at least make them somewhat stimulating to watch.

The movie wasn't a 1/10 type of movie but it's definitely generic low budget action movie that I saw a million times when I worked at Blockbuster and would take home all the direct to dvd released circa 2000 - 2003ish.

Rambo 4 is the only movie I can think of during which I actually stood up and yelled/clapped during the movie (when he ripped that dude's throat out. lol)

For part 5, I really had to be okay with the fact that it sucked in order to enjoy it.

This Starman guy must have made his mark on sherdog.

There's like 10 dorks in the war room right now that littered their avatars with his image.

Rambo IV was kickass. Rambo V had potential, but ultimately did not reach the level of superb filmmaking that was IV. As far as ranking all the films: I, II, IV, V, III

Lol he got owned pretty good in the WR. Ran away once his daddy Trump lost. It was glorious.

I remember because my (now) wife was the only lady in the theatre and the part where he's in the back of the truck just mowing down bad guys (as frequently seen in the thumbs up Rambo memes) people were standing and yelling and swearing and were all in it.

It was like the local sports team winning the championship level of people going ape shit. I think the closest that I've seen people acting like this at the movies was in American Pie during the Nadia and Jim being streamed and the 2nd time he blew his load everyone in the crowd yelled "AGAIN?". Among my top movie theater memories....

Pfff ramb has always been gay as hell.
Muricn crap prpaganda.
And now rambo is 190 years old, still doing the same things..

Yaaaaaahwn.

If you think First Blood was American propaganda then you've never seen it. It was the exact opposite of American propaganda.

4th was much better. This one was absolutely horrible

The finale had so many fast cuts that it made a Bourne movie look like it was shot in super slow-mo.

If you think Rambo is pro-American propaganda, then you clearly haven't watched the movies, especially the first one.

Beat me to it. Really, none of the films are American propaganda though. I mean, in the second one, American bureaucrats are knowingly abandoning POW's and doing all sorts of nefarious stuff. If I recall correctly, they don't want Rambo to actually find and rescue any POW's because then it will be a scandal that they were left behind in the first place and that American knowingly abandoned them. So they set Rambo up to fail, basically. And when Rambo catches on, he tells the politician behind it all that he's "coming for you." The politician and his bodyguard John Kreese are basically the biggest villains of the movie, bigger villains that the Viet Cong or the Russians.

I hated that about the Nolan Batman movies. Batman Begins was the worst offender. I could never tell what was going on during the fight scenes.

Yes, Rambo 2 is often presented by present day critics as ra-ra American propaganda, but James Cameron was writing it at the same time as Aliens, and the USA government is basically Weyland-Yutani in the film. Murdock is Burke, etc.
