Rambo (2008) is a Masterpiece

I’ll check it out.

The commercials didn’t look good so I avoided watcing it when it came out. I’m suprised to read all of your reviews.
I felt the same way. Was bored one day and watched it in theatres for free since my sister worked there. It was great.

I took a date to see this. I was stationed overseas at the time, local girl. Took her to the base theater. She loved it. Quoted Stallone for weeks after.
“Get down! No talking!”

I literally said what you have in spoilers right before I clicked it. Had me rolling.

Great post...very underrated movie, I remember being very pleasantly surprised seeing it when it came out...I was fine watching just for the nostalgia but it’s a very good movie...

One thing that makes it such a great movie is it also works as a stand alone movie. The date I took to see it didn’t know anything about Rambo, but it’s obvious what’s going on throughout the film.

I remember watching it expecting fun stupid action but it was actually good. The part where he shoots the guys with their own .50 on the technical was cool if I’m thinking of the right Rambo

You should definitely check it out. It was entertaining as shit.

Thats just crazy. I graduated high school in 08 i cant believe i didnt know a new rambo came out that year.

Burnett: I was told it might be possible to rent your boat. We'd like to do that. Is that possible? We need to get upriver.
John Rambo: Where are you going?
Burnett: Into Burma.
Rambo: Burma's a warzone.
Burnett: Well, that's what people call it, but it's more like genocide than war. Anyway, this will be my fifth trip in, so we're aware of the risks.
Rambo: I don't go that far north.
Burnett: Let me explain our situation. Our church is part of a pan-Asian ministry, located in Colorado. We are all volunteers who, around this time of year, bring in medical supplies, medical attention, prayer books, and support to the Karen tribespeople. People say you know the river better than anyone.
Rambo: They ain't lying.
Burnett: So what I'm asking is that we compensate you for a few hours of your time that will help change people's lives.
Rambo: Are you bringing any weapons?
Burnett: Of course not.
Rambo: You're not changing anything.
Burnett: Well, it's thinking like that that keeps the world the way it is.
Rambo: [walking away] Fuck the world

I used to post "Burma's a war zone" any time someone would say they're travelling to (anywhere in Asia)

Stallone is at his biggest, most-jacked, self. But he actually pulls it off, better than his character in the later - much weaker - franchise, The Expendables.

So what you're saying is, Rambo was not Expendable?

It's phenomenal, especially for the gore & violence.

For a Sly fan it was the perfect 1-2 punch following Rocky Balboa (no pun intended). Marked Sly's comeback to the big time with his two most famous characters. I wish he would end it there though instead of making another one. Rambo was finally able to make peace with himself and return home. Perfect ending for the character imo.

Right up there with "I AM THE LAW!"

Fantastic film.

I put it in the same genre as man on fire and taken.

Bad people needing to be fucking killed

I have a vague memory of seeing this or part of it and being totally surprised how insane the gore and killing was, like I couldn't even believe multiple people signed off on the scene descriptions and then actually made them

Picked up the double blu ray a few months back that had first blood and the 2008 rambo, $5

Hell yeah!

That's why I honestly don't think it would/could be made even today. The 2000s until about 2012 seem to be the most uncensored regarding content in TV and Movies.
