You are right, shooting is worse. Now...Jordan Peterson got famous for simply refusing to use those pronouns. Why should someone get famous just form that. Because it's mainstream and being pushed on everyone.
I submit to you that these crazies that shoot people are less than .00000001% of society. The radical left ideology, however, is coming mainstream with gender neutral toilets and aggressive cancel culture. Watch bill mahers latest new rules how democrats are getting very aggressive and hurting their own people. The danger isn't as overt as shooting, but did you see how the media ignored billions in damages from looting and arson? Assaulting people eating their food outdoors, etc. I recently am hearing ethno state solutions from BLM, replacing whites in corporations and neighborhoods with blacks. It goes both ways man. Biased people can only see their side as valid and all other sides as invalid. As a centrist I have always spoken out against the far right and been worried about the crazies that shoot people. Now we have to worry about the radical left too.
Jordan Peterson based his entire gimmick on a lie (or at the very least a willful misrepresentation of a law). The law in question simply extended the already existed protections in regards to housing and employment for minority groups (homosexuals, immigrants etc) to trans people. Jordan Peterson took that, misinterpreted it to mean that "if you use the wrong pronoun you'll be arrested" and then used the outrage he generated to sell books and take patreon donations and become a millionaire. That law in question, by the way passed and guess what, I haven't heard of a single case in Canada where someone got arrested or fined of "mis gendering" anyone.
Now to the BLM protests. First of all, can we stop this nonsense rhetoric that "cities are burning down"? Cities aren't burning. There are a handful cases of arson and vandalism in the cities where BLM protests were happening. No one on the left is condoning the crimes of looting and vandalism, however the right wing seem to have been using the actual civil protests (which I support 100%) and vandalism interchangeably, which is a dishonest tactic to paint anyone who supports BLM cause as being a criminal.
They don't want to consider a far more nuanced thought that a mass scale protest like we've seen is a perfect opportunity for looters or instigators to take advantage of and get away with, as that would weaken their narrative.
They claim that radical left is more dangerous because the left controls the media and education, but they never seem to consider that maybe left leaning ideas are just more appealing to modern day society, which is why they are far more prevalent in media today than outdated conservative ideas? Or that conservative ideas are not based on rigorous research and therefore are less prevalent in academia?
Also, I don't listen to Bill Maher for my political insight.
If you want to boil down to it, implementing radical right wing ideology would be far worse than any leftist principle
