So the other day, I was talking to a few coworkers who happen to be parents of little kids, and the subject came around to GPS trackers for kids. I then asked if they would be OK with a microchip implant. Both emphatically said yes.. they would immediately microchip their kids. When I expressed my shock at their response, they explained losing their kids is their biggest concern, and a microchip implant would put their minds at ease. The advantage of the chip is that it will be undetectable by a kidnapper because it would be embedded underneath the skin.

Is this a technology that you would take advantage of as a parent?

I’m not a parent but I’d never put a micro chip in a kid.

I know all parents think their kids are special but that just isn’t true.

If the microchip is supposed to go in the right hand or forehead, I'm not doing it! It's against my religion.

I guess I could support this.

I have a little boy.

I just feel like it’s rife for abuse.

Haven’t the social media companies been selling all our info for years; and now my phone is spying on me too?

What's your objection to it?

Not in favour of microchip implant.

Am in favour of tracking kid through their phone, to make sure they are home or activity after school

This would NEVER get abused by overbearing, narcissistic parents and government agencies would allow you to remove the chip as an adult.

Technically the mark your referring to is for buying and selling. This would just be a GPS

We really need to update the phrase to, "Parents these days."

I'm not a parent but I can see how a microchip can be helpful... moreso than a cell.

I understand their point. The ability to recover your child from a potentially dangerous situation far outweighs the fear of any negative impact a chip may have.

I can only imagine if one of my kids were abducted and I had the ability to find them had I agreed to implant a chip, but at the time, I had chosen not to. That guilt would probably kill a parent.

That being said, I wouldn't do it.

My kids phones have trackers in them which is pretty cool.

Yes I would.
I have only heard people say "fuck no" but not give one good reason against it.

As an actual parent I'd be ok with this. Losing my child would result in me putting a bullet in my own head.
