Also there was a time not so far back where the forum was handing out Plat's for free like crazy. If I recall correctly it was during one of the changeovers where the system became glitchy (I think with Ad's) and since they had no immediate fix they were plat'ing up all affected as a work around.

I was having the problem and saw on the Technical Issues/Help thread that everyone was getting Plat'd up and I could have also for free but instead I just didn't see the value in it and chose to wait to see if the fix came in, which it eventually did.

So even for free I did not see the value when all I would have had to do was write a post saying I had the same problem. To me that trade off was still not compelling to me.

Funnily enough if Sherdog just offered a 'donate' to the site because you use and like the content option I would probably do that just as I do to Wikipedia every time they come asking.

It is just when you put it in terms of 'pay for value given' then I will consider the value provided and determine if i want it for the cost. The Plat upgrade holds little value to me but I do value my regular forum posting and therefore would likely donate. Kind of weird I know, but that is how my mind thinks of it when you ask me to pay for something to get something.

A plat account is for life, not just for xmas. I'd neglect the shit out of a plat account. Might as well lead it into the woods afterwards to join Old Yeller. It'd be no use to anyone.
