Question for Cat Folks

Outdoor cats prefer drinking from a running source because standing sources usually end up becoming stagnant & gross shit starts settling and/or growing in it.

I had not heard that, but the cat I had growing up would pretty much only drink from the tap. My mother would leave a tap dripping for him constantly. It does make logical sense.

@lsa, we need your life experience in here.

Well to be honest I am not much of a water drinker.
I get most of my "water" from my food. You know.. A nice juicy tuna steak.
But sometimes I get it from Vodka or a beer too. I am not picky

The guy on the radio just said cats dont drink for sitting water in a bowl cause they dont trust it and their instincts tell them to drink from moving water cause its safer. Said a cat will drink out of the faucet than out of a bowl. Like wild animals mainly drink from stream, rivers and other moving bodies of water cause the know sitting water aint safe. Is that true.

My cats drink out of a bowl and a fountain. Depends on their mood sometimes. Or their trying to test us humans.

My car took a drink out of a sitting bowl of water right in front of me not 2 minutes ago....

However, they do seem to be interested in running water, when I fill their bowl they get really interested.

I had a cat that rather than put her face down to the bowl to drink, she would dip her paw into the water and then lick the water off her paw. I always wondered why she did that.

Coz Cats no bow down to nothing. Nothing

If anything this threads reveal that Cats have more personalities than attention-whore-and-i-change-my-life-to-make-sure-my-owner-loves-me Dog.
Cats have numerous ways to drink their water as evidenced in this thread.

Dog just

Dogs... MEH~

Domesticated animals have different ways than wild animals.
It's why we call them domesticated.
Cats will drink from any water source to suit their needs and a lot of pet psychologists are full of shit.

No not really...additionally just because water is moving doesn't mean that it is safe?

My cat drinks from a bowl.. If I have a cup of water (for me) by my bed or sitting around the D!ck will jump up, stick his paw in the cup to make sure water is in it, then drink from that until I catch him or yell at him. Hes afraid of running water... If I run water and hes around he takes off...
I stopped leaving glasses of water around because of that. I don't feel like drinking dirty paw water :D

yeah I got one with a top and straw now.... hes not a fan

lol, i use a water bottle 24/7
but my fat cat waits for me to set my tea down (of course i have it in a mug)
idky but she loves tea and will stick her paw in to scoop it out
now n then ill make her her own tea, or pour some of mine out into a dish for her
