The guy on the radio just said cats dont drink for sitting water in a bowl cause they dont trust it and their instincts tell them to drink from moving water cause its safer. Said a cat will drink out of the faucet than out of a bowl. Like wild animals mainly drink from stream, rivers and other moving bodies of water cause the know sitting water aint safe. Is that true.

Kinda.

But they will all drink from standing water if they have to.

I don't have a cat but I know for a fact they will drink water that is just sitting in a bowl. Not for nothing but I have seen my neighbor's cat drink from a puddle in the driveway 12,912 times.

I've never been around anyone with a cat that kept "running water" for the cat to drink.

My father-in-law has one of those bowl that has a faucet at the top and so the water keeps flowing and he is the only person I know IRl that has a cat.

One of mine growing up used to always want to drink from a faucet. It would annoy you into turning it on anytime you were near it.

I had a cat that rather than put her face down to the bowl to drink, she would dip her paw into the water and then lick the water off her paw. I always wondered why she did that.

Cats will definitely drink from a bowl. They seem to have an affinity for the filthiest water possible though. Any gnarly old plant pot with a puddle in the bottom will do.

That's the same bowl I have for my cat and every time I see him drinking it's from the running water.

You are correct TS, most cats like that, but I've seen many, including mine that prefer it/used to it in a bowl.

Cats are cool as hell and very unique. Some cats do this, and it's really a couple different reasons. Sometimes they just like to do it simply out of personal preference, experience as a kitten growing up(habit), they may not like the bowl or the water level, etc.. For the most part they just like to do it. My cat does, he's done it since he was a kitten, 11+ years ago. He's my homie.

My cat drinks from a bowl. We bought one of those bowls that keep the water moving. He did seem more interested in that but it broke. Animals adapt.

Cats will drink from a bowl but prefer it be placed far from their food source. Instinct tells them water can become tainted from rancid meat.

Radio guy is an idiot and apparently doesn't know shit about nature. Most animals in nature actually drink from small pools and other non flowing water sources.

Interesting thought.

My cat likes to steal water from the dog's bowl, but not before tipping it.

I always just assumed she did it like that because she's a fucking wanker.

They'll drink from whatever source they want.

Oh bullshit.

If I yelled at my cats and told them to not drink out of fire hydrants, they'd grow thumbs and use wrenches to start popping the tops off of those things.

They will drink from bowls, but all cats that I've met like drinking from running water. My cat loves drinking from the sink in the bathroom so much that he starts to howl from the other end of the apartment whenever I go near the bathroom door. "Don't forget about me!1" He's an asshole.
