q for fighters: guillotine

Use the underhooks (which are available to you now) and throw your opponent, then move ot side mount.

Turn your head so that your chin is digging into their body (assuming you're in top guard and they are in bottom guard)

ahhhh...my FAVORITE escape! i would let them get the choke on (very dangerous though) and then stick my leg between his 2 legs and sit down really quick on my ass. this will trip him and send him back fast enough that when i fall he hits his head on the ground. this is great in a street fight on concrete because it will KO him!

Is your neck supposed to break free as you sit down? Or do you sit down in the guillotine? This seems very difficult and dangerous to me.

Dangerous Dan's escape is probably the best one I've heard of. I saw Falaniko Vitale use it to get out of a guillotine.
I was taught in Judo to push the guys rib in a sudden, violent motion, at the same time as you jerk your head back quickly.
I personally had some success when I swam through with my arm into the choke to take the peassure off.

ok forgot. my escape is only for standing and yes it is risky. but let me tell you do NOT lean on your opponent. a common misconception is that he can not support your body weight. that's bull shit. i weight 150 fuckin pounds. these big guys can hold me up all day long with one hand

If internet forum readers know this then why dont prof fighters like keviin randleman do this? ..it was the beginning of the match too, kind of sad
Adding to Dangerous Dan's post, sometimes guys just get caught and it is a lot easier to say than accomplish sometimes. It's basic defense, control your opponent's hands/wrists he can't choke you. Just like takedown defense is basic to explain: head position, blocking out, hip position/sprawl; doesn't mean it is easy to do or you'll never get taken down.

Sounds like a short fireman's carry motion.

you should twist your head/neck and try and face his chest

Is there a good way to get out of one? Talking about the standing one.

I saw a video of Cro Cop where he was training. As soon as his opponent put a guillotine on him, Cro Cop let himself fall down and rolled on his back, which got him out of it. The force and quickness of the roll projected his opponent. Not far, but it was good enough to break the hold.

Shamrock did have a way with Zinoviev. Are there others?

What's the technique with each? thanks!

I'm not a fighter and that's why I ask.

I read of this but figured its bad. U realise how easy it is for the opponent to be in the mount? In fact in some cases you are CAUSing him to b in the mount.

Be quick in escaping cause if he's good he'll get the blade of his forearm in your adams apple and it will hurt like a bitch!

As said above, I try to get a little space by pulling with my hands. I also get up high, standing on his thighs/knees. He should tire out and let it go.

We will assume he his Guillotine Chocking with is right arm.

1. Grab the wrist his right arm with your right hand.
2. Place your left hand palm against his right arm elbow.
3. Try to get as close to his body as you can.
4. Use your left leg to place behind oppenents right leg (A sweep).
5. Simataniously push with your left hand on his elbow, and pull down his right wrist.

All of this is suppose to happen within a matter of second. This defense is really good because it's hard to defend a leg sweep from a stand up Guillotine choke. The momentum of him falling backwards and you falling in the same direction while pushing on the elbow and pulling down on the wrist will work %90 of the time. Try it out and see what you think.
