Q&A on Thailand

Good airline. Cheap fares, good enough service.

You don't have to book too far ahead if you haven't yet determined your plans. I've found cheap fares from them by just walking up to the counter at the airport and asking for them.

Don't get locked down into a specific day and time. Flexibility on time by as much as a few hours or one day can dramatically alter the cost. For example, I once bought a flight to Macau from BKK for only about 200 USD, bought the same day. Should have been twice as much but the lady behind the counter arranged for me to qualify for a discount by moving flights to and from around by a couple hours.

I stay near Ratchada or Lat Prao

I love Ratchada/Ladprao area. Some kickass apartments with nice swimming pools for just 5 thousand baht a month. Plus most of the buildings are full of gorgeous high so special massage girls or uni students. With the underground its pretty easy to get from rachada to anywhere now also.

just thought of another question not sure if it's been asked have been through the thread once before but didn't fancy it again!

What do you guys do about holiday insurance? and have any of you gone without insurance? Will it matter if your training will it void your insurance?

Also has anyone been over there with Chron's Disease and did anything effect it , food, training,Heat humidity?

Sorry if the above sounds like a silly question.

(im from the UK if that helps)

Holiday insurance is great but I never purchase it. Maybe I should but the health care is not that expensive there so I think I'll be fine. I could not tell you anything about Crohn's Disease cause I don't have it. I didn't know what it was either till i googled it.:icon_chee

Maybe i'll just wing it and take a credit card over there just for emergency's then, ha it sounds like some super dooper contagious disease but it's not just crap disorder that messes with your weight when you don't want it to!!!!

I just got back recently from Thailand and one of my friends from my gym ended up in the hospital in Thailand 3 times and I know it was more than a grand.

But they were non-training injuries.

If I go from my hometown to Bangkok, could I just walk up to another airline counter and buy a ticket for Phuket once I get there? No flights from my hometown go anywhere in Thailand but Bangkok, so could I do this?

The answer is yes. BKK is a huge hub. Looks like there's flights to Phuket more or less every hour.

I've gotten off the plane in BKK, looked at the big departure boards, dumped extra baggage at the left luggage, gone directly to the airline counter of the next flight to where I've wanted to go and bought the tickets and been on my way.

The question for you is why you'd want to. If you know you're going directly to Phuket, you should have your agent book you all the way there. It would suck to show up and have every flight booked and have to wait around all day for the next available flight.

My only problem is if one of my three connecting flights gets delayed and I miss the one in Thailand, I'm fucked out of money for that ticket.

Don't buy your ticket till you arrive. It much easier that there are plenty of flight going to Phuket and a few different airlines.

You can choose from:
https://www.fly12go.com/en/booking/index.php
Welcome to AirAsia.com...now everyone can fly...
Nokair.Com = We Fly Smiles
Thai Airways - Online Ticket Reservation

I think I'm missing one but you will be able to book a flight the same day you want to leave. Thai Airways will be the most expensive.

Another Q, I assume their should be alot of english speakers in the Bangkok airport (correct me if I'm wrong), but how many english speakers would there be at the Phuket airport? Thanks.

There should be a few. There will also be plenty of signs with English so you should be alright. You are going to Thailand, not the moon. :D

5 thousand with a pool in the block, not possible in that area.
