A tourist!? Oh man. I thought Thais will only do this to Thais, and with farangs they want money. They should know Farangs may have little concept of 'face'.

Just landed in bangkok 2 hours ago...sitting in a starbucks waiting for my flight to chiang mai in 5 hours. Thailand needs to get on board with north american starbucks and hook me up with free wifi!!

man that was a long trip!

i have seen plenty of farang get beat down.
us thais don't discriminate when angry,lol.
Farang have a bad habbit of coming up to our girlfriends or sisters and grabbing there ass.
even come up to my girl on the beach and ask how much.
loss of face or not,thats asking for a flogging.
many farang spend to much time in red light area,then make the mistake of thinking all thai girls are easy.
 
i wonder if the humidity is as bad as in Miami?

also im a pretty big guy 6'4 280 will that be a problem will in training?
 
Great thread, thanks for all the info.

I'm mainly just interested in training, but Thailand looks beautiful and I'd be a fool not to get the full experience. I'm not really the night-late party type, what else can I do during off-time? I'm sure it depends on location. I'm really leaning towards going to Sinbi. Thanks.

I'm planning on training at tiger muay thai hopefully next year so i'll be located in phuket. I'm the same i'm not a stay out all night and party type of guy but i heard the fishing isn't half bad in phuket and i'll probably just chill out at patong beach and go body boarding ( i'll be going during the low season and apparently the waves are bigger around that time) and visit buddhist temples on the weekends.

Apparently at patong beach you can hire jet ski's and all. There's also boat rides to surrounding islands aswell i think, lots of stuff to do than besides getting drunk and chasing young thai women.
 
be careful when you hire things like jet ski's.
some will claim you damaged it, then ask for a lot of money to repair it.
you will have to pay,no way out of it,trust me you can't just walk away or fight your way out.
when you hire something,go over it first with the boss,point out all damages beforehand.
 
Hey thanks for the info guys. Sounds like fun. I probably won't be able to go until next year as well, but it helps to prep. :)

I can't see why your size will be a problem unless you're referring to accomodation and beds etc

As far as humidity this is all i've found on humidity and it's in phuket so it'll differ from other places in thailand like bangkok i dare say?? Will have to see what payak says.

Q: When is the best time to come to Phuket?

Phuket has two distinct seasons: the dry season (high-season) and the rainy season (low-season).
High Season
The high season is from November to April. Most tourists choose to come to Phuket at the peak of the high season in December when the weather is dry and hot with little chance of rain. The average temperature is 32c-38c with a humidex of around +80%.
The water is calm on most beaches and it only rains about 1-2 days a month. Hotel and service prices rise slightly due to more tourists arriving on the island.
Low Season

Phukket in the June-August isn't too bad. Bangkok is humid as hell though. Chiang Mai and north is fairly cool.
