Q&A on Thailand

Just out of curiosity, whats a realistic amount to make per fight for a relative newcomer. Also how often could one reasonably compete while training full time without totally exhausting themselves? Once a week pushing your luck so far as injuries/general wear and tear go or is that do-able?

Also do the fight purses vary from Phuket to Bangkok?

You're better off going to Boon or the stadium shops in Bangkok. You will pay anywhere from 500 to 800 baht more in Phuket.

Do you think it would be worth flying into Thailand at Bagkok visiting boon sports then getting a bus down to phucket? I hear busses cost about 800 baht and it's a 12 hour trip. I was looking to get

1 pair of 12oz gloves
1 pair of 16oz gloves
2 pairs of shin guards
1 pair of thai pads
1 pair of punching mitts
4 pairs of muay thai shorts
some shitty vests to wear while training
3 pairs of hand wraps
Maybe a leather skipping rope
2 pairs of anklets

Will I save more than 750 baht to justify the bus trip? Also out of interest do you know how much all that stuff will cost from somewhere like Boon sports?

Thanks.

I may be completely off here, but it sounds to me as if your shouldn't be competing for money yet if you can't answer that yourself.

I posted the price list for boon in the gear forum.
I would never take the bus to Phuket. It only cost about $60 to fly...

I'm not competing for money yet. Just getting started on some amateur matches. That question was more-so for future reference.

good point though, best to just play things by ear and see how it goes.

Yeah but I'm quite poor. Hopefully I can fly into Bangkok in the afternoon go get some supplies then get a bus down to Phucket overnight.

800-2000 baht. You don't get paid more for being a farang sonnn.

I'm just guessing, i don't even know. But i bet that is accurate.

Hey, that's a few beers and food for you and your buddies.

flying to thailand in a few hours.

It looks like I might be there or at Patong Boxing Gym at that time. I expect to go for two months in the April-August time frame and perhaps with a buddy.

If you see a guy that looks like he was taken out of a painting in Nazi Germany (minus the side parting), it might be me.

lol! i dont know why i thought that was so funny, i was expecting a motor bike accident, maybe a really bad injury... but the machette respnse was gold :icon_chee

Alot of browner skinned filipina girls wear the same type of makeup, it looks ridiculous....at least from an american's point of view. Always trying to get as white as possible...my people are so brainwashed, brown is beautiful too!

You are brown, get over it, and now you just look like a brown person that's been bobbing for apples in baby powder.

Ok my rant is over, carry on lol.
