That didn’t matter a damn. They had the worst possible booking and decisions. S&P wasn’t forcing Bischoff to discredit Flair, end the Goldberg streak, give Hogan a share on shirts that made them lose money on each shirt sold. fuck up Hogan vs Sting, Fingerpoke of Doom, expand the NWO to half the roster, not using Bret Hart after Montreal, constant run ins, no clean finishes, showing the finger to house show fans, putting PPV dream matches on tv, “That will put butts in seats”, Sturgis wrestling event, Arquette Champ, take mask off Rey, hire Russo, give Nash the book, etc etc. Swearing and blood wouldn’t save the company in the face of this shit.

Bisch looking elsewhere starting in 1998 is what allowed terrible people to get in and fuck shit up. It took the finger off the trigger and created a space for such failures. Some of these straight up are not failures.

Sturgis - Lost some gate revenue but made a hot tv show (the important part) and advertised wrestling to an audience that wouldn't watch a clown slapping a garbage man.
Hogan shirts - He got a stipend for nWo shirts because they took away his percentage for his unique tees. We're talking about the second biggest shirt ever here.
Run ins/No clean finishes/dream matches tv - Run ins create drama where the evil heels delay satisfaction and build feuds. A lack of clean finishes keeps multiple people strong, the opposite is killing the product today. Dream matches on tv makes people tune in, if the show is pointless no one will watch.

It couldn't possibly match the original for a number of reasons. What Jurassic World as a movie did is not continue the plot of Jurassic Park but to invest the viewer into their childhood fantasy of the movie. The movie actively invites the viewer to ridicule it, with characters mocking the lameness of the new movie ("that first park was legit") and pointing out the stupidity of the plot ("they're dinosaurs, wow enough!")

Theoretically a sequel to a well liked movie would do better, but like Avengers 2 it was based on outside feelings that weren't connected to the original product. Nostalgia wanes considerably over time as product cools. The awful Episode 8 still made money because it had Goddamn Luke Skywalker, not because people wanted more Episode 7.

Cause it looks exactly the same? “look at this scary new dinosaur we engineered!...and it looks pretty much just like the other scary new dinosaur we engineered in the last movie!”. I’m always down for Jurassic Park movie so I’m gonna see it regardless but it wasn’t an opening weekend must see for me
