Okay.... that’s just prejudice speaking based on tabloid fear tactics.

People don’t ‘get off’ with insanity pleas except for actually once in a blue moon mental episodes (like somebody with a rare attack caused by diabetes) or for minor crimes - somebody who commits petty crimes and it’s not worthwhile to jail them. There are far too many legitimately sick people in prison who should be in mental institutions getting care but the court systems, especially in the US, lock them up.

The only ‘fairly sane’ people who have an interest in claiming insanity are those facing the death sentence or life without parole in the USA. Or life without parole in other more civilized countries. Everybody else with an ounce of reason will probably prefer to go to prison for a defined sentence instead of a mental hospital.

In fact offenders in England and Wales (Scotland has a different legal system) will 99% of the time not plead insanity - it’s the judge who might tell the jury that the circumstances allow for a not guilty by reason of insanity verdict. That basically means you’re going to a closed mental hospital where you are going to be filled with drugs AND you get out at the discretion of the doctors and above all the Home Secretary (dude who is third in rank to the prime minister). If you’re not nuts going in, you might be coming out. If you are nuts, then the hospital is the best place for you and will stop you doing harm in a prison or when you come out. Offenders change their pleas to guilty to avoid getting not guilty for reason of insanity verdicts - because that’s the nut hut ticket for serious crimes.

Nobody is getting away with murder, rape, assault or grand larceny by claiming they’re mad. philes get locked up and if they and society are lucky, get treatment to stop them reoffending while in prison. Of course the good old USA mostly doesn’t offer treatment because it hates society and prefers to let philes loose after a long sentence so they can go back to kiddy fiddling which they haven’t been persuaded not to do. philia as such is not a mental disease though a huge percentage of hpiles have very serious mental disorders like schizophrenia, depression or anxiety (oh no). About half have substance abuse problems. philes however aren’t usually sociopaths/psychopaths unlike traditional rapists/violent criminals.

Oh and in the USA it is extremely difficult to get a not guilty for reason of insanity defense to work after huge changes based on public outrage over the 1982 assassination attempt on Reagan.

Going back to Enzo, the police shrugged their shoulders and decided the girl was nuts. Enzo is a bitch for going after her. Same with Diaz and his own crazy girl and his asshole friends attacking her publicly.
