I'm of the why does he watch wrestling mentality too. Or at least, why watch WWE. It's clearly not enjoyable for him. And when I burn out on WWE, I look into other orgs that I do enjoy. I know it's a neckbeard thing, but I'm watching a lot of NJPW lately. Why? Because I ENJOY it. Once it stops being fun, and I feel like bitching, that's it. I'll check out some other organization. Or better yet, I'll find a different medium of entertainment! Right now I'm burned out on video games, so I'm reading more and checking out Boardwalk Empire.

Why hate life so damn much, or at least very easily fixable facets of your life so damn much, to the point that you want to tear others down as well?

In some ways living with a borderline monopoly, which WWE basically is unless you want to watch foreign (basically alien product) produces such results. In order to appreciate an artistic movement he enjoys, he has to suffer a deluge of garbage. In many ways this rather represents the future in alarming ways as power gets more consolidated.

Take superhero movies. Marvel had several studios take cracks at their characters (Fox, Columbia, Universal) before borrowing money to start their own studio. Although bought by Disney they've operated on their own and have absolutely killed quality dead. Yes the Thor and Iron Man sequels were utterly unnecessary. But really the only major downgrades were the Ant Man shift away from Hank and the Mandarin twist. The end result is that the universe of Stan Lee not only has happened but seemingly will never end. Without competition none of this was possible.

At DC (who have been owned by WB for decades) after Batman and Robin the goose was cooked. They were going to let Burton wreck Superman before giving up. The impetus to even try supers again was Sam Raimi's Spider-man, and they just lucked out hiring the Memento guy. They stumbled drunkenly into the DCEU giving control to a man who called all fans virgins and another who fantasized about Batman being anally raped.

The end result is that DC grosses in the middle of the MCU movies instead of competing. This is because Marvel is there to fuck them into trying harder. Imagine a world where WB bought Marvel for peanuts in 2000. There'd be nothing consumers could do. Whatever mistakes they made would harm the entire superhero genre and fans could never effect change. The only game in town would never change, they'd have the same amount of money or more due to not having to compete. No one could ever possibly challenge that monopoly.
