Hulk Hogan comments on WrestleMania rumors, WWE issues statement​

Hulk Hogan is in Los Angeles for the HBO premiere screening for the Andre The Giant documentary. TMZ Sports caught up with Hogan and Jimmy Hart as they arrived at LAX and Hogan is outright saying that he will not be at WrestleMania 34. He said, “No WrestleMania brother.” He added, “Maybe someday brother.”

As noted here and in other places, there have been discussions in recent weeks and everything depends on how WWE feels their sponsors will react. If Hogan returns then he will likely go back to the ambassador role that he had three years ago. Obviously, if a deal has been made for Hogan to return at Mania then I would not expect him to lay his cards out on the table.

Meanwhile, WWE issued the following statement in regards to Hogan appearing at the Los Angeles premiere screening for HBO’s documentary on Andre The Giant:

“Hulk Hogan is an important part of Andre the Giant’s history, however his appearance at tonight’s HBO premiere of the documentary and his plans to help others learn from his mistakes does not mean WWE is rehiring him. Hogan is not scheduled to be at any upcoming WWE events.”

There is a lot of talk that UFC television negotiations are not going well. The company had hoped to have the deal done by the end of last year, and now we’re almost in April with no sign of a deal being done and the target looks like the summer for an announcement. There have been some stories along with the word on the street that UFC and FOX would likely be done. FOX made UFC an offer but now it looks like FOX is more interested in WWE, as they could get WWE for similar money and WWE would deliver higher ratings. Still, FS 1 and FS 2 have relied on UFC for a live percentage of their programming for years.

And I, for one, welcome our wrestling overlords
