Yea, that one might be a good'un

The last couple have been not that great, this one had an interesting seed story but the production values was really bad, Hecklefish looked and sounded terrible, and AJ just half assed it and didnt really pull us in with his usual dazzling rakonteurship, he just said the lines and got the fuck outta there





This one had the top notch production and full effort from AJ and it started out really freaking interesting, but...


Got about a third of the way in and the story was already getting so fantastical and way overbooked with so many wild things on top of more wild things that it was impossible to suspend disbelief, didnt even have to wait for him to kill kayfabe and debunk it all at the end


 
@RollSonnenRoll One more thing about that USWA mini doc, they talked about the World Class-USWA switch at the beginning but they didnt go into how amazing of a booking job it was outta Jerry Jarrett and Eric Embry

Jarrett needed a fresh new babyface to get the fans back invested in Dallas so he goes out and gets this nobody ass journeyman midcard heel in Eric Embry and gives him the book and tells him to make himself the top babyface and the fans were so desparate to cheer someone again that they went All In on Embry as he battled the evil villains of Skandor Akbar's Devastation incorporated

Then Jarrett needed to figure how to kill the World Class promotion name and the connection to the Von Erichs, something the fans had been deeply invested in for over a decade, without losing the fans

So what does he do, he has Embry book a storyline where "evil foreign oil cartel businessmen" came in with their evil foreign oil money(obviously something that was gonna be felt deeply in the oil working state of Texas) and bought World Class and put Skandor Akbar in charge of it and put these hard working Americans out of jobs!

So now, you got white meat babyface Eric Embry, representing a new group of American investors called the USWA(America, baby!) vs the evil foreigners and their corrupted World Class promotion

When Embry won the big blowoff cage match and ripped down that World Class Championship Wrestling banner from the top of the Sportatorium, the place actually exploded in cheers, something that woulda been unthinkable and dang near sacrilegious just a few short years earlier

Now that is top notch fan psychology booking for yo ass!

I love it, love everything about it

Night 1 of the G1 used to damn near be a wrestling holiday, bigger than a lot of PPV/PLE nights. Now I probably won't even watch a single night of the entire tournament. :(

It really is masterful. I knew of it somewhat from the Lapsed Fan WCCW journey. You don't start in This Business in 1847 like the Jarretts and not know a thing or three!

I just recently watched a shoot from Embry. I knew the name and clicked on it.



Those boys were getting six figure mailbox money checks and still wanted more. Bless their hearts
