I think that is the most generic setup I've ever seen in my life, I have so many questions. Camera platforms directly opposite on the same end of the ring so you get the same angle just reversed? What's up with the green strap/cable/WTF thing over the guard rail on the right? Dude on the left sitting with green jacket guy (timekeeper?) at the table just kicked back having a snooze? Where exactly is the camera guy that's getting the shot of the refs holding the belts in the ring? Is he John Cena? Is that an actual wheelchair ramp for an entrance?

This is the same NWA that Billy Corgan owns now, right?

The NWA production is purposely set up to look like the old shows from the 70's and 80's(kinda) so that could be the reason for some of that stuff, maybe

@RollSonnenRoll I remember the Apter mags were breaking kayfabe big time leading up to Wrestlemania III, telling all the secrets of the Hogan-Andre timeline over the years, it dont seem like anything now days but man that was a huge move for them to make back then

They were triggered cause Vince took away all press rights once he launched his own magazines so Apter mags and others had a grudge against for years

They even took away WWF's world title recognition in their ratings system and made it only a regional title, I know that sounds neckbeardish and nerdy as fuck now days(because it was, even back then LoL) but they were presented as the legit press, the Sports Illustrated of rasslin, so it was a "big" move inside our world of extreme nerd kayfabe

Ok, I just watched the whole match and I see the context of it now and what a position that was compared to the rest of the match. That was excellent entertainment. He walks out holding the American flag, which I admit I thought was a little odd since he's wrestling another American and Gable gets right in his face about it. He was working, brother!

Then his whole family crying with him at the end was a helluva moment. He walks over to the mat and throws up a salute and I'm wondering "what the hell is that about?" and the camera cuts to WWE hall of famer, PRESIDENT TRUMP! <lmao><lmao><lmao> I had no idea he was there so it popped me so good.

He's a lieutenant in the Air Force so I can see why he came out with the flag but it was still a bit strange because he was competing against 32 other Americans lol.

Yeah, Trump came on earlier during a guy's victory interview and they just cut his interview and showed Trump coming out then cut to a commercial <lmao>

I have read about Vince taking away their credentials and that being a big shot across the bow that WWF was no longer a "rasslin' company" and that leading to those mags really pushing Crockett and Flair on the fans.

That's funny though. That's such a thing that would be on reddit now or twitter. "WeLl AcTuAlLy!"

Is that a legit thing in wrestling? DC and the boys were making a big deal that Gable supposedly said to him you only get to carry the flag out if you've won an gold medal

But did they show a replay of the promo as soon as they came back from commercial

Yea, but Hogan's picture on the cover obviously sold more mags than everyone else combined so they would always use old pics of him as often as they could

I wonder if thats another reason why Vince was always changing the design of the world title belt every few months, how many years are you keep dragging out that pic of the Hogan '85 belt, Bill, its 1989 for fuck sake!

I'm not sure to be honest. It might be. Wrestling has all kinds of little traditions. But I'd imagine actually serving your country would trump all that. DC is terrible at commentary, though. He says shit just to try to be entertaining and can be blatantly wrong at times. A guy won a national title and DC just kept talking about his 6'3" girlfriend(he was like 5'5") non stop. Not just passing a comment but was marking out about it. "They are famous on TikTok." It's doubly annoying because I know that whole persona is fake and he's kind of a dick in real life.

His "excited for a big moment" announcer voice is also very fake and I don't like it. He is trying to put on a voice than just use his natural speaking voice. It kind of works in UFC where Joe is screaming over him

Speaking of old stuff, a new Wrestlespective just dropped, has you people ever heard of this lost WWF I-PPV from 1996?

@RollSonnenRoll @My Spot

"Steve Austin is still coming out to his Ringmaster theme in ausgut of '96 so they still haven't gone all in on him yet." Once again, AI at work blurring out all those Austin 3:16 signs and t shirts that littered every arena from the first night after King of The Ring '96!

I recall something about it. I think Bruce has touched on it. I'm intrigued

Im gonna check it out after this Alabama-St Marys game that Im watching right now, attempting to reconcile my whirlwind of emotions as I try to decipher whether I hate St Marys more or the whole entire SEC more
