His "excited for a big moment" announcer voice is also very fake and I don't like it. He is trying to put on a voice than just use his natural speaking voice. It kind of works in UFC where Joe is screaming over him

He's really weird. Because I know he knows wrestling. But he'll call for near falls that obviously aren't near falls or something similar. Its almost like he's trying to ham it up to draw casuals but wrestling will probably never be a draw to casuals. Most people that watch the NCAA wrestling tournament know wrestling pretty decently so his commentary is off putting. I didn't like him last year or this year.

@RollSonnenRoll I remember the Apter mags were breaking kayfabe big time leading up to Wrestlemania III, telling all the secrets of the Hogan-Andre timeline over the years, it dont seem like anything now days but man that was a huge move for them to make back then

They were triggered cause Vince took away all press rights once he launched his own magazines so Apter mags and others had a grudge against for years

They even took away WWF's world title recognition in their ratings system and made it only a regional title, I know that sounds neckbeardish and nerdy as fuck now days(because it was, even back then LoL) but they were presented as the legit press, the Sports Illustrated of rasslin, so it was a "big" move inside our world of extreme nerd kayfabe

I don't remember them taking away the WWF World title designation, but I do remember them doing it to the AWA.

Yea, I remember them doing it to the AWA in its dying days

They took away the WWF's world title status in 1983 when Bob Backlund was still champ, saying it was because Backlund only defends against bad guys and only on WWF shows, which was a legit argument in kayfabe terms

Real reason was that Vince launched Victory Magazine and took away everyone else's press access and maybe also cause he caused a fuss at the '83 NWA convention when he argued with Ole Anderson and then stormed out and withdrew from the NWA although I doubt that second reason carried major weight in the decision

They reinstated world title status in '85 when it could no longer be denied that WWF was the big leagues

I mean, I'd be mad too if I was Austin or Foley and my only guarantee was 10 days/$150 a day for a year, and then freaking Johnny B Badd signs 2-3 months later and gets $300k a year guaranteed. But get mad at Vince, not Marc. It still bothered him when his first book came out because he complained about it almost every chapter (and not in a joking way like Al Snow jokes).
And to turn down a 5 figure payday for one match.
