@My Spot @RollSonnenRoll watched the first Nitro after Starrcade '97 a little while ago on the stream, they were celebrating Bret Hart as a conquering hero and villifying that evil Nick Patrick for his fast count, Bret was interviewed in the ring by Mean Gene and he had all the charisma of a rice cake, how anyone ever thought he was gonna be a star is beyond me

LZ beat EB so the NWO wouldn't "win" Monday Nitro. Bret was the ref and stopped EB from cheating.
And Nick Patrick's "fast" count was actually a normal count so Bret looked like a moron coming out and talking about no one else getting "screwed" like what happened to him.

To this day, no one knows if Hogan convinced NP to do a normal count, if NP forgot to do a fast count, or if Sting was so messed up from drugs that he forgot to kick out. NP "doesn't remember" whenever he does a shoot interview.

The cracks were starting that night
- Nash took his ball and went home to get out of jobbing to Giant. He complained of chest pains and went to the hospital but nobody bought that.
- Savage is working a 6 man in the second match because he doesn't fit anywhere into the NWO storyline at all and should have never been there
- Hall is only working as a manager
- Bret looks like a moron during his debut
- Sting's victory is tainted
All these big stars that look good on paper are essentially doing nothing.
The only bright spot's are DDP and Goldberg, who would carry the company in 98.

@Pliny Pete Also on the live go home Nitro before Starrcade there was segment where the NWO B team came out and dismantled the Nitro set. So many people changed the channel that they almost lost their precious streak to a taped episode of Raw.

Well Thunder was starting the next month and had been forced on them by TBS. Supposedly one show was gonna be WCW and one was gonna be NWO but then plans changed after the disastrous ratings for that quarter hour came in.

An NWO show sounds so stupid, the whole point of rasslin is watching the good guys try to find a way to beat the villains, you dont want a whole show where the villains stand around dicking off with their jack off friends and celebrating how much of an asshole they are

That clip is only 2 1/2 minutes and it feels so much longer. For a company that loved their motorsport and blue collar tie-ins, they couldn't get like a sponsored Dually out there to rip it apart Lethal Weapon 2-style and make a cool stunt out of it?! Nah, let's get some PA's on a ladder with a socket set

It probably was, my point was that that single clip was only 2 1/2 minutes but it felt longer because of how awful it was.
