Seeing Raven as Scotty the Body reminds me of that story of when he was in WWE, and was a bad influence on Shane. He'd take him out all the time, get him hammered, and he'd do stupid shit, and it drove Vince nuts. Then he leaves, becomes Raven in ECW, goes to WCW, goes back to ECW, then everywhere gets shut down, and Raven ends up back in WWE.

Raven makes his debut, and Vince supposedly saw him and screamed "WHO THE FUCK HIRED JOHNNY POLO?!"

So this wyatt group is pure exploitation but making a tournament and keeping around a shit faction for Brodie Lee wasn't because?

Because thats what WWE does, anything that works a little bit gets shoved down your throats to outrageous levels til youre sick of it and then they just make it bigger and dumber

They still had the rocking chair and the stupid lamp in NXT but I don't remember anything else that was borderline goofy.

It's because Vince couldn't help putting gimmicks on the Zazz Train to Zazzville.

The whole point of the Wyatt Family was that you have this huge dude who is an absolute fucking lunatic who believed himself to be an apparition of god, and he's flanked two even bigger dudes who are willing to give up their lives for him. That's where the fear was, because that's entirely real. There are fucking lunatics who believe themselves to be of a higher plane of existence, and amass dedicated followers.

But wasn't enough for Vince. He has to go all "This is the new Undertaker", and gives him the devil magic, and added all the supernatural shit.

I dont know about NXT but that initial promo video was the last time i was legitimately interested in WWE, it was so creepy, so amazing, so intriguing, I just had to tune into Raw and see what this was all about
And then WWE did what they always do, they destroyed it, within a matter of weeks they had Bray Wyatt appearing in random ass 8 man tags with a just a bunch of other guys on the roster, not even with the Wyatt Family guys, just a buncha dudes all mashed together for no reason like its fucking AAA
What the fuck, do you people know anything about protecting a gimmick!
That was when I lost my smile forever, not even Cody can make me want to watch that bullshit again so now I just set here everyday and hate

And Alexa Bliss popping out of a box and puking "some sort of black viscus liquid" to beat Randy Orton.

Like it was cool when Vince came out on Raw during the height of the Ministry of Darkness angle and was trying to plead with Taker. "You're not actually a phenom. You're not actually some sort of supernatural being. You're just a guy named Mark." And then Taker whipped out Vince's childhood teddy bear and set it on fire.

Look at another one on a smaller scale. Shinsuke Nakamura.

His entrance in NXT was awesome because it was simple. The only light source at the start of his entrance was simple red lettering on the screen, and you see his silhouette in the glow, then he's revealed in a strobe before the lights come up, it made him look like a huge deal.

Then he gets to the main roster, and he has the fancy-ass titantron, with all the the arena lighting, and all of that stuff, and by giving him "more", they took the aura away.

Imagine being a guest at the Travel Lodge in south Philly on a random weekend in the 90s when all the ECW guys were in town for TV. If only smart phones existed back then...

That's what took Shinsuke's aura away? Not so sure about that. He's been booked like trash, more or less, since Wrestlemania 34 but I get what you're saying. Shinsuke's one of the few guys that can't get booked right during the Vince regime or the Triple H regime, but hey collecting paychecks for no work sounds like a good gig.

I guess I expected too much from Shinsuke after years of experts telling me how he was this legendary wrestler in Japan.

It's a different style of wrestling. Japanese wrestlers always got neutered in WWE. I can't think of a male one that didn't.
