@Pliny Pete oh and the kid took 3rd place. He won by forfeit his last match. His opponent disappeared lol. My son saw him like 10 minutes before the match was to start but he never showed up. There was a pretty good moral victory for him yesterday. He wrestled his teammate who is a senior and a state qualifier. This is the kid that beat him for his spot and made him drop down a weight class. You may remember me saying I was frustrated because they didn't make that kid make 177 instead they let him wrestle my son for his spot at 185 and my son was 175. Plus they made my son have a wrestle off before that match(the other kid didnt). He lost his spot, he lost the match 6-0.
Well, they had to wrestle yesterday and they were close in weight. My son was 180 and he was 183. It was a close back and forth battle. My son lost 8-6. Things went a little different when they were on an even playing field.
And nothing against that kid. He didn't make the rules for the wrestle off. He's a good kid and comes from a good family. I'm gratefull my son has him to trian with sometimes. He's a state qualifier. You have to be good to make states in this state. His little brother is also my son's main training partner and friend.
