I think I recall an interview where he admits that around that time he wasn't good either. IIRC he insinuated that it was because he had to work with people like that. Want to say he didn't think he got good until he worked with HBK and HHH.

A lot of people shit on his Bret matches, but those were some of my favorites as a kid. Once Mankind showed up and he actually started moving around some though, he got way better.

Taker told a story once that Vince told him he's got a new monster for him to work at Mania, the first time he saw Yokozuna, this 500lbs Samoan dude who grew up in the business, Taker went to Vince and said "Is that him?!
