I don't think Baker sandbags on purpose. She just does it because she's mediocre in the ring. Not sure if that makes it better or worse tbh
Chat me up on this. @PWD

Been watching a lot of The Boondocks lately. Great show. Definitely slept on this one.

I’m totally back on my racing bullshit at the moment. Been binging the Dale Jr Download for about a week now. This one was so good. I loved going back in time and seeing the inner workings of, what I consider to be one of the greatest PR machines I’ve ever seen, the Dale Jr Budweiser years. Loved hearing from the media guy that created the whole thing. Highly recommend listening to the full interview whereever you get your podcasts

I was never really a fan of his but I always liked him as a person and I’m so glad that was the peak of my fandom. Going to races in those years was like nothing else. You didn’t go to a NASCAR race, you went to a Dale Jr race that NASCAR just happened to be running <Lmaoo>. The crowd was 90% his fans, no exaggerationYa love to see it
It was brilliant. He has a certain good ol boy charm to him but I don’t find him to be a particularly charismatic or interesting guy and yet they made him a damn rock star and one of the biggest sports stars in the world. It was almost too good of a job because his talent couldn’t match the monster they created.I might have to check this out, you know I enjoy hearing about the nuts and bolts of putting together live event productions and I definitely agree about the genius behind that pairing
Budweiser is one of the best promoters of all time and then you had the young good looking boy prince, son of a legend, coming off the brutal death of his father, the whole country wanted to root for this guy
If only he woulda managed to win a few races...

Over like rover, daddeh. Half the people came to see him win and half came to see him lose but they all came to see him. He understood The Business too. He was the first to really get that this was a show and he was a large than life character. He played up who he was and on-track rivalries. He changed the game on how drivers market themselves and do merchandise. He could have retired 10x over on his tshirt sales alone and he basically invented the die cast car market for NASCARI never was a big fan of NASCAR. But I did like his dad. My uncle gave a me Dale Sr model car so that made me start liking him lol. Was Sr over in the 90s? I want to say he was super ovsr but I don't really remember. It was sad when he died.
