Spears is 13-4 in 2021. Getting a good paycheck to only wrestle 17 times in 11 months and win most of them while mostly just showing up to blast someone with a chair doesn’t sound like a bad gig.

Environment is probably great for him too. Stress free, fly in once a week, and hang with the boys, instead of being on the road 5 days a week and being in a shitty environment where you gotta be on your toes constantly cause you might get “heat” for the most mundane stupid shit.

Life as a lower mid card stable goon in AEW is probably much better than as a jobber on Smackdown.

And, I think that has also had a hand in hamstringing the product, at least in WWE.

Case in point, if a heel was to say "Everyone in this arena in Alabama are a bunch of fat, stupid rednecks!" something is said to garner heat, and instead of being adults and saying "This is a character, saying things in order for us to establish that we are not supposed to like him", it's "Fat shaming! I'm outraged! That's offensive", yes, that's the point, he's a heel.

I remember listening to an episode of "Straight To Hell" on Cultaholic, and the guest actually had one of his things being "Upsetting people to get heat".
