I'm not a big fan of either but at least Putin is an intelligent person who knows what he is doing and most world leaders are scared shitless of him.

You're the same people just months ago saying unvaxxed shouldn't get care in hospitals. Championing mandates for a vaccine that is garbage. Hoping people lose their jobs. Now we know the CDC was hiding side effects and data.

By "you people" do you mean organizations like Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International?

If you are really interested in learning about what Putin thinks about the freedoms of the Russian people I would suggest you read the various reports from the two organizations I mentioned.

Then you might realize how stupid it is to claim a leader like Putin would respect your rights.

We already have it, hence the "I don't want either one". Lol at "because you're mad about our authoritarianism".

I'd rather not live in an authoritarian state at all, but I would less like to live in one where the rulers despise the citizens.

While I'm sure we all appreciate the free crack pipes gesture, some people prefer the ability to earn a living, to go out in public, and to travel freely, and have a decent education for their children.
