Got so dunk with the Goober Patrol dudes in Nottingham. They were such a party band.
And those hopeless VHSes were the absolute business.
Here's the promo for the Fat Wreck movie
And some Cape Town legends
From the good old days when tickets weren't just an email
1 minute in they play a bootleg of Propagandhi playing under a bridge in California from 1994... I have that bootleg on VHS. Didn't expect to see in in there.
They finally say Fat Mike's last name in the documentary, "Burkett"
Before you started posted them, I only knew one South African punk band, though they're pretty damn hardcore and metallic. (these guys started in 1994) My favourite song from them.
Nice, glad you shared. We never got nice looking tickets like that over here.
Some really great shows in there. I saw The Vandals & Assorted Jellybeans in Glasgow on vacation once, but paid at the door so I never got a cool ticket... I have a movie-sized poster for that "Fat-Stage" show that you went to at the Astoria with Strung Out, Lagwagon, No Use for a Name, and according to the poster the Swingin' Utters played also. Just took it off the wall, at the club. I'll post a pic one of these days.
Dinosaur Jr, Rollins Band, Beastie Boys.. some nice non-punk shows in there too. I saw Sugar Ray at a festival put on by the big alternative musci radio station in Toronto. The crowd got right into it, they were pretty good. I preferred Glueleg (one of the opening bands)
So awesome that you know Groinchurn, used to party with them so much back in the day. They really tore up a stage
You need to digitise that VHS and let the rest of us watch it, it sounds super cool. I remember getting chased away from an under a bridge show in Taiwan with some dudes called The Deported. They were always super keen on playing non-venue shows. It helped their 3 song set always fill the time between setting up and getting chased away
That Fat Stage show I was literally hanging out with the bands upstairs at the Astoria, I distinctly remember telling Strung Out that if they sold Strung Out underwear I would buy it. And a few years later they released Strung Out socks, and I bought them
So good. On the Japanese band note these are my favourites
Shakkalabits
And Kemuri
And of course the great Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra
Thumper (1997) (Boston)
Hey dude do you got a copy of 10 songs telegraph/skolars ?
If you do can you break it up and put it on youtube so we can play some jams in here and not have to post the whole album ?
I dont have a copy right now and I suck at technology
Yeah I can do that, I probably won't get around to it today though... Maybe late tonight
I have their entire discography, even the songs from the split 7"
